I'm very new to Carnatic music, but not new to good music. I know this artist has pushed the boundaries of tradition in many of his interpretations... and yet, he is so very Indian and his sound is really beautiful, peaceful, and evocative. I always go back and listen to older recordings of the tunes he sings for comparison and then return to his. He has studied the music of his elders respectfully. He loves his culture and tradition and is being young and exploring the space between tradition and revolution. Beautiful. Vanakam.

What I really enjoyed in TMKs rendition of the song is the slow and steady tempo of singing. The interpretation of the song almost eliminates the tala aspect, allowing us to purely enjoy the lyrical and raga aspects without constantly worrying about when to finish a sangati. Slowing the tempo allows him to explore the lyrics, pause in between, and repeat some phrases creating a very uplifting feel! It also helped the song is about Krishna and probably he connects with the song at a deep level, e.g. while repeating the "krishna" phrases! It felt like he was calling his inner self to come out in some sense. Very emotive as a result. An unique interpretation of the song.

Vayalale Balasubramanian I am too much a commoner...a lay person without knowing any ragas. But I am fond of listening to various kinds of music,say, Carnatic, Hindustani, ghazals etc. T.M.Krishna is one of my favourite singers. I do not know why one or two Rasikas criticize his body movements, his gesticulations that he makes in sync with the manodharmas, bhavas of the malleable waves of ragas. He forgets himself and integrates with the turns and twists , raising and lowering of the musical notes. They are crude not realising the sublimity, the nuances , his deep absorption of melting himself into the divinely mode of wholesome expression. I am sorry, I have no expertise to put my thoughts correctly. Perhaps knowledgeable connoisseurs of music may understand what I am trying to express with my uncultivated, simple words.
