@@pennywiser9607 you'll need a special cable for that. It looks funky, three connections. A 3.5mm connector for your phone (which you'll probably need an adapter for) and then it splits off into two (an xlr, I believe, and a trs connected). Hello, thanks a lot for this excellent video ! I have the same for my drumset (4 dynamics micros & 2 overheads) and have somme questions : - 1) For the 2 Stereo Out, what is the best to use for an amplified speaker, XLR (balanced ) or Jack (TRS or TS ?) ? - 2) I also use this mixer to connect to a main mixer, what is the best connecting, XLR or Jack (TRS or TS ?) ? Do I have to use two Out or only one for connecting to the main mixer ? - 3) What is the difference between the 2 SEND (Aux 1 & Aux 2) & the 2 GROUP OUT ? Thanks again for your precious answer, musically, Emilio (France).
@GLBProductions3 жыл бұрын
Hello Emilio! Some answers: 1. It depends on what the line input connectors on your powered speaker are - on some speakers the only line input available is a TRS connector. 2. Please watch my video on how to connect two analog mixers together - either connector can be used. 3. Aux sends can be pre- or post-fader, pre- or post-mute, and the amount of signal being sent can be varied independently of the fader position. Group outputs are always post-fader and post-mute, and the level of signal sent is always proportional the channel fader position. Aux sends are typically used for stage monitors or sending to external FX or recording units, groups are used more for managing groups of similar channels eg all your drum channels, all your vocals etc.

Good morning, thank you for making the very informative video. I'm not clear on one step, can the white fx/aux 2 knob manage both functions at the same time? Let me explain: if there are monitors connected to the aux2 output on stage and I operate the white knob, do I raise/lower the channel signal or increase/decrease the effect? I understood that I can only route the effect to the aux1 output. I hope I have explained myself clearly and thank you in advance for your reply.
@GLBProductions3 ай бұрын
Yes it can and does, but the mixer is not designed for aux 2 to be simultaneously a monitor send and an FX send: you're meant to use it either as a send to the internal FX or as a post-fade aux send, not both at the same time.

Hello i have a question regarding bossting the audio sound . Can i connect the ledt and right outputs from the mixer into one single top power speaker that has 2 channels and so connecting the left and right outputs into the speakers would that make the sound more powerful
@GLBProductions4 ай бұрын
Doing so will not actually make the sound more powerful because the active speaker will simply combine the two signals together at the same level. You might get a slight level increase of around 3dB but if you need more power the best solution is to invest in a more powerful loudspeaker.

Excellent video. For my karaoke setup, I am trying to address the need to take the output from the mixer and feed that into DSLR camera. As you suggest, I will use Group 1-2 for the microphone and music channel, set ST on these and take the 1/4inch output from Group 1-2 into DSLR camera; I will turn off ST on the GROUP 1-2 fader and use that for the volume going out to y DSL camera - just trying to confirm, is the right approach? How should I connect my mixer to the home theatre system such that the output from mixer goes into the home theatre system? If you can please help answer this.
@GLBProductions3 жыл бұрын
Yes that will work fine, except you will need a device to convert the line level output of the mixer into a mic level signal suitable to be fed to the input of the DSLR. For connecting to your home theatre system, these typically use RCA/phono connectors, so you will need some adapters or cables to convert the 1/4" output of the mixer.
@singerinme2 жыл бұрын
@@GLBProductions Thank you for taking the time to respond. When you mention about a device, are you suggesting a cable, two TRS 1/4 inch cables going to one 1/8th inch TRS to feed into DSLR (this is what I have) or some other device? Similarly, I took two 1/4 inch TS cables going out from Mixer main out into two RCA into home theater receiver (this is what I have) or some other device?
@GLBProductions2 жыл бұрын
No it would be something like a recorder or audio adapter like the Beachtek DXA-HDV. The solution that you have now is not ideal as the output level of the mixer is not correctly matched to the input level of the camera which can cause distortion. When connecting to your home theatre receiver simple adapter cables are fine because the output and input levels are already matched.
@singerinme2 жыл бұрын
@@GLBProductions thank you very much. The product is not available anymore. Would JBL M-Patch ACTIVE-1 work ( I have one of these)? Group 1-2 output from mixer to JBL M-Patch ACTIVE-1 SOURCE 'B', then JBL M-Patch ACTIVE-1 OUTPUTS 'B' going into DSLR - will this be better or the right way?
@GLBProductions2 жыл бұрын
In theory no because the JBL unit does not have a microphone level output which is what the camera input requires. If your current setup is working fine with no distortion or other problems just keep on using it :)

@GLBProductions10 ай бұрын
Hmm, these mixers are really not set up to work with IEMs - for a start none of the sends are stereo, and only two of them are pre-fader. And aux 4 is shared with the send for the internal effects. So the short answer is no, not really. Are you able to use a more conventional setup with monitor speakers?

Then i would like to connect my condenser microphone into the MG12 UX mixer, then i would like to connect the "Roland VT-4 voice transformer" to the mixer aswell. Can it be done? If so, how would i conncet it all up? Is it through the "Send FX" on mixer. But would i need a DI box to stop the signal from feedback? I've been looking online for answers but found very little. I could really use some expert advice, or a tutorial, as i am new to this mixer. I'll even take a detailed diagram or a drawing in pencil from you on how to connect it all up. So my main goal is to sing through my mixer connected usb to my pc, "Roland VT-4 voice transformer" through my mixer and my Monitor2 usb. While recording my voice to my DAW, and playing the backing track through my headphones on one ear while singing, with or without recording the backing track, as i can edit the backing track later if need be. i know its not a multi track recording mixer. I hope this all makes sence?

Peter this seems unnecessarily complicated to me, given that 1) You are recording using a DAW, which has plenty of power to route, edit and EQ the signal, plus 2) the Roland VT-4 can itself function as an audio interface. Could I ask why you are adding the mixer as well?

Hi, Bruno. I have the Yamaha MG10XU and it does not have faders (it has volume knobs) and no PFL button. How do I properly set the gain? Thanks.

On that mixer you use the peak light next to the level knob: set the gain such that the light comes on at the very loudest input level for that channel but does not stay on.

I had issues with the mixer yesterday...the PSL indicator light was beeping continuously and The effects was interfering with the sound coming out from the PA. Is there a video u can recommend to sort this out for me?

A couple of suggestions: check that all your PFL switches are OFF, especially the ones on the FX RTN and group faders. If there are excessive effects in the mix, either turn the FX RTN channel OFF or bring the fader down.

Great video. I've bought one of these mixer to use for a dual-pc stream. I've yet to set it up but I was wondering if you could clarify something for me... If I have 1 mic setup through channel one and it's going out through Aux 1 to PC 1 & Aux 2 to PC 2, if I use FX will it be on both inputs at the same time or is it isolated only to Aux 2? Lastly, if I just wanted to speak to one audience (aux) at a time without the other hearing me, am I able to mute that Aux output without interfering with the other? I'm very new to this, so this setup might not even work or make any sense. Some guidance would be appreciated. Thanks again!

Interesting question, not one I've gotten before! In this case, if you use the FX they will only ever go to Aux 1 - the internal FX cannot be sent to aux 2 when it is used as an external send because that would create a feedback loop. In your situation, may I suggest a simpler solution: use the L&R outputs to split your signal: connect PC1 to the left main output and PC2 to the right. If you want the signal to go to both PCs, pan the mic channel center. If you want it to go to PC1 only, pan hard left, and vice versa for PC2. This will give you full functionality of the effects for both destinations, and also keep both of them post-fader and post-mute. If you want to kill the feed to both PCs without disturbing the level, just switch the channel OFF.
