Glee New York should have been a separate show from the start. By splitting the show between New York and McKinley the new cast didn't get enough airtime to develop their characters to get people invested emotionally in them.

Marley's character was performed brilliantly by Melissa, this scene is especially amazing. The writers really screwed the pooch by not featuring her more. Her and Unique, whose also a real talent, could have easily carried the show for two or three years with little effort. The creators could have worked up a spin off based on the new characters, and kept that up for several more years. Glee could still be running, adding a few more talented "freshman" every year, while still following the careers of the older Glee alumni in a different show.
