I'm rewatching Glee now and there are so many parallels that seep through between Finn's storyline and Cory's situation, how Finn said he didn't want to end up like his dad did and that's exactly what Cory did... there's tons of stuff like that, everything just got a double meaning after Cory died.. This is gonna take certain fans way back but this proposal is very similar to Ryan Murphy's first show ever (and first attempt at a high school show) Popular. In the 2nd season of that show, Josh (who was essentially that show's Finn) proposed to his girlfriend Lily and they (stupidly) got married.
