Honestly, I totally agree that Mercedes should have had a competition solo. That's a big reason why they lost regionals in season 1 and nationals in season 2. But you know what really should have happened in regionals season 2? Tina should have sang Loser Like Me. Not only was Jenna SLEPT ON (seriously she kills every song she sings) the entire show, Rachel had already gotten a solo for that competition. Tina could have done so much with it. It's so unfair that Rachel got to sing her own original song AND the song that the others wrote

Glee would have been even more epic if it was just 10 to 13 episodes a season. Would have been less songs but the story would have been more concise and they could have even made it so the characters didn't graduate so quickly. Like break it down by nationals and then (forgetting what the other one is called) then add a new character (or two) each season. If it gets rebooted or remade that should be the path.
