It was pretty cruel for the writers to make the Tina scene...Jenna was obviously mourning a hell of a lot just like the rest of the cast and they made her film this.

I think Tina was mourning deeply, but she didn't know how to deal with/express her grief. There's a point in the episode that shows her bawling uncontrollably.

One of the reasons I hate glee is how they turned Tina from a shy girl trying to gain confidence to a caricature of Rachel and Santana.

I hate that they made Jenna's real time mourning like this Ryan Murphy really lost my respect when he started screwing with Tina's character. But I guess Tina as a character was mourning too cause she was full on crying during Santana's and Rachel's Finn tribute songs and this just her way of dealing with it

I think what this scene was supposed to be was her hiding her feelings behind “I can’t wear black anymore” as in “I can’t keep grieving for so long” and it wasn’t actually her caring about her clothes. That’s why she wasn’t offended by the pamphlets and actually agreed to them.

It was hilarious. Glee is a comedy and we need that some time during grief. Even Rachel makes a joke about Finn at the end of the episode.

In this scene, Emma is seen giving grief counseling to Tina. She says, "Tina, I'm really glad that you took the time to come talk to me today. I know a lot of young people have trouble expressing feelings of sadness." Tina tells Emma, "I just don't know how much longer I can do this." "Do what?" Emma asks her. "I just don't know how much longer I can wear black." Tina responds. "I feel like this look is so Tina two years ago. And I spent so much time transitioning away from goth, and look at me, it's like I'm back at that look." Emma says, "okay, yeah, I'm just gonna see what I have in my drawer here." Then she goes into her drawer and she pulls out a couple pamphlets and goes to give them to Tina. She says, "why don't you have a look at these on your way out, okay?" After receiving the pamphlets, Tina looks at them, gets up and hugs Emma and proceeds to leave the office, as Will comes into the office at the same time. Emma says, "hey, right on time for your one-thirty." "Em," Will says, "I'm happy that some people are finally coming to you for help....but I don't think I need grief counseling." Emma says, "have a seat. Come on." At that point, Will inhales as he sits down next to her. Emma lays her hands on his hands, and says to him, "Will, I was with you when you found out that Finn died, okay? I stood right next to you at the funeral. And I couldn't help but notice something." "What?" Will asks. "You haven't cried." Emma says as she looks at him. Will looks at her, confused. He asks, "What are you saying? That, that I don't feel anything?" "No," Emma replies, "that's not what I'm saying." "Of course I feel something, Emma." Will says to her. "I-I feel...." Then he gets up, paces the room, and says, "I feel more than I know how to express." He pauses for a brief second and says, "I'm heartbroken. To be honest, I don't even know how we're all supposed to move forward. But in the meantime, I have to make sure that the people around me are taken care of." "Okay, right, okay." Emma says while she gets up and moves closer to Will. Will stammers when he speaks, but Emma says to him, "listen to me. Listen, I love you, okay?" "I know." He says. "Whatever you feel, have, or whatever you want to share, it's okay." She tells him. "I just....I think there's gonna come a time when you need to....let it all out. And I want you to know that I plan on being here for you when you do." Will kisses Emma's forehead and tells her, "i have to get to class." Emma says, "okay." Then Will leaves the office as Emma watches him.

You don't know it when you're watching this scene, but it was the ultimate set up for the final scene at their home. To me that is the best scene ever in Glee. I think it was a big mistake of the show as they phased Will and Emma out and made the focus so much more about the kids. Matthew Morrison and Jayma Mays can act circles around most of the kids.

TristanandIsolt that and all of Emma’s scenes where she’s having panic attacks just feel so real. Jayma’s portrayal is almost frightening at times, especially in the scene where Finn walks in on her having a panic attack.

I know the Glee kids would’ve probably disliked Tina for this scene, but what I think people aren’t understanding is that this scene was supposed to be was her hiding her feelings behind “I can’t wear black anymore” as in “I can’t keep grieving for so long” and it wasn’t actually her caring about her clothes. That’s why she wasn’t offended by the pamphlets and actually agreed to them. I’m not saying this scene was smart but I don’t think it was simply her complaining about having to wear black.

I think you're right but if that's the case then it makes me mad that Emma as a guidance counselor couldn't see that's what she was doing, and instead of trying to dig deeper and help her deal with her grief she just brushes her off.

I appreciate all the kids in the show, but Jane Lynch, Jayma Mays and Matt Morrison are the best actors on the show. This scene sets the stage for the letter-jacket reveal at the end once again with Jayma and Matt.

yeah it’s disrespectful of them to jenna to write tina’s scene like this. but for the character, you have to remember that grief is different for everyone, and everyone shows it differently. the shock can be so much you don’t even realise the person’s dead!! which i think is what they were trying to do here, and honestly it fits in with tina’s “obnoxious” character

Here’s an example of an opinion you are entitled to have, but should keep to yourself. Nobody knew what was going on in Cory’s personal life, or the reasons why he turned to alcohol and drugs. Have a bit more compassion for those with lives not quite as easy as yours.
