Not to put anybody else down, but these guys (to me) are two of the best examples of genuine musical genius. They could play their songs, someone else's songs, alone, or paired with any combination of other performers...and it was ALWAYS great. Literally almost unbelievable!!!

Glen is probably THEE most underrated guitarist of all time (that I know of). I used to think it was Prince, but even he said Glen is the greatest guitarist he knew. Another Glen story: Eddie went to play golf with Alice, and asked if he "was gonna get Glen to play?" Eddie didn't care about golf, he wanted to meet him hoping to get a guitar lesson from him. Edward Van Halen wanted a lesson from Glen Campbell. THAT'S how good Glen was. Can't believe I've only found this out in the last year. Enjoy, unless you're a close minded blockhead like I had been most of my life (with music anyway)

Glen Campbell was a studio musician before he became popular. Many, many British guitarists thought Glen Campbell was incredibly talented but he never reached that pinnacle in this Country.

So many stories of the studios during this era in music.. We can only imagine the other outstanding (and hilarious) stories that have passed on with these talented folks.

When I moved to Detroit in 1972 or so, I felt so lonesome and detached. So I went out and bought a Leon Russell record... It was a 78 LP. That single act saved me from a life of misery. Thanks, Leon; you saved my life. I'm sure gonna miss you, old friend.

Lawrence Klein, that is so touching and Leon always said there was healing power in music. I think he was a sensitive person and he he might have felt that healing power even for himself. I lived in Detroit and saw him 4 times, starting with the Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour. I don't know if you saw the documentary, A Poem is a Naked Person but in the supplemental addition there is an interview with Leon and the son of the man that filmed the doc, back in 72/73. Leon said so very sincerely that people had come up to him and said you saved my life and he looked so amazed and then said, I feel like that's my payment. If you haven't seen it, you really ought to since you are big fan. It's really interesting.

I feel old and depressed that both of these legends are gone. Saw Glen first in the mid-60's, and Leon many times over the years in various combos in many places. There are no artists like these guys today that I'm aware of. RIP.

Both amazing artists... I remember my Dad playing this in our kitchen. I would just have woken up and he would make me dance with him. I was a teenager at the time and was not interested now I miss those days.

Damn. Too good. You put on some Eagles or Zepplin or Garth or Seger and all that stuff and i pick up my guitar and play right along. You put on some Glen or Chet or Eddie or Roy and I just fold my arms over the body of my guitar and smile and listen.
