Except that Mr. Toussaint's rendition of his song was smooth and melodic and didn't really contain the Dixieland whimsy you referred to. In all honesty, I like Allen Toussaint's version a lot, but I *LOVE* Glen's version. The Dixieland Whimsy (outstanding description, BTW) is what speaks to me. Another song he sped up was "Galveston." Jimmy Webb's version was slower and more somber in tone. I don't think Mr. Toussaint or Mr. Webb had a problem with Glen's tweaking of their songs. He made them the $ucce$$e$ they became. For the record, "Southern Nights" is my favorite of Glen Campbell's hits. This is my favorite version of this song.

I remember when I was kid back 70’s when I first started to love hearing Glenn Campbell with Rhinestone Cowboy and then Southern Nights. He went to Heaven but he is still with us with his music.

Glen Campbell in shorts, his Arkansas T-shirt (state where he was born), his sexy beard, beautiful hair... what a handsome guy and beautiful sight! Thanks for uploading this clip of a very popular song that makes you want to get up and dance!

I wish I could buy a CD with only this song on it, played by these two people, over and over. It makes my heart bleed for where Glen is now. And Jerry's gone.

WSE WEG I think they are OP (Ocean Pacific) shorts, the white OP logo is on his left pocket. They were popular for men back then. 😉
