I cry or almost do every time I hear this song. I'm 18 and my dad turned me on to Glen Campbell when I was a kid. RIP Glen Campbell, you were a really remarkable man.

Hi Mr. Campbell if you read this, let me give you all my respect. You're one of the greatest entertainers in the world. I wish you the best, health and a long, long life. Please give us much more songs. You make the lifes of millions much more better. At least mine... To all the people out there: the new cd 'meet glen campell' is a wonderfull, fascinating artwork. I think it's a must have!!!

God I love listening to Glen sing. He always believed that he played guitar better than he sings. I agree with him.....if you've ever herd this man just play guitar.....he's as much a guitar god as Chet Atkins or Jerry Reed...and those guys could P-L-A-Y. This brings me to tears....will people appreciate Glen's talent 20 yrs from now? Man I hope so.....

I love this version, so much I bought the CD Meet Glen Campbell all the songs brilliant One of my life musical highlights was seeing Glen at the Glenlough Country Festival 2003 Co Meath Ireland, also on that (2 day festival) were Van Morrison, Albert Lee Jackson Browne Dwight Yokham and ( Nancy Griffin Guy Clarke and Kenny Rogers who along with Glen Campbell have sadly passed since🙏☘️

I had the privilege of attending 2 of his concerts in the 70's....one at Carnegie Hall in NYC and one in NJ at the Garden STate Arts Center....both were amazing....but his mature voice still has a lot of punch and he is never off pitch. Awesome talent.

I shed a tear when i first heard about Glens diagnosis of Alzeimers. When asked wat he thought about having this condition was that he was looking fwd to forgetting some of the people in his life, I laughed and cried at the same time...luv u Mr Campbell
@justinchambers757610 жыл бұрын
yes..me to...but the tears dissipated when i heard Glen answer the question about his Alzeimers and he said comically about moments in his family history....there are things you want to forget.....classic

I was a huge Travis fan when they were around, and the idea of someone covering this song horrified me. But Glenn knocked it straight out of the park, wow I love this cover and still years later find myself coming back to it. The countrified arrangement works perfectly, and the slide guitar is something you can never go wrong with, beautiful.

Upon first hearing GC's version of this TRAVIS fav of mine, I kept thinking....is this TRAVIS "matured"...given that the song is at least 10 years old. Though, I kept thinking, THIS MUST BE GLEN cuz it sounds just like him...Did he actually write the "Sing" song that TRAVIS recorded??? When I determined that is was, indeed, GLEN, and that he recorded this song, along with several other COOL tunes of a more recent era, I began to look up ALL BOUT GLEN....He truly is ONE of OUR BEST!!!! "Meet Glen Campbell" and a whole lot more. I could listen to "Wichita Lineman" endlessly....and, I think I just will....good night:-)))

I've been listening to Mr Campbell all my life and this is awesome- the recording of this song on 'Meet Glen Campbell' is incredible, his voice still sounds so beautiful. I heard this cover version on the radio back in the summer without realising who it was at first and was blown away. I like the Travis version but Glen's voice really does something that sends shivers down my spine. Keep up the good work, Sir.

Love the man. Don't care for the song nor the arrangement. Waaaaaaaay too loud, virtually drowning out Glen. Glen could cover almost anything, but this one didn't do it for me. Still, as I said, I love that man!

GavDuggan1983 it's far from an awful song, but this is a truly great version. The slide/steel guitar certainly adds magic to it though.
@GavDuggan198316 жыл бұрын
haha course I've heard the original unfortunately. I don't mind Travis but really don't think much of this song. If you honestly think this is a brilliant song and that Travis are a brilliant band, I think common sense would say you are the fool. Whoever picked this out for Campbell should be sacked even though he made the best out of it.
