Hi Jim. I had my eye on this G.G. 12 for a while, it hasn't been available for weeks, but I was able to buy a G.G. Rothes Chronicles, my impression doesn't differ much from what you tell us, so for me it could be a good choice for a warm afternoon/evening with friends, by the pool, relaxed, quiet and without much complexity. It used to be very affordable, I still remember getting it for $35- $40, and it was enjoyable great drum for that price. Unfortunately now in the US they went up on a price by a bit, and for that money We have lot more options. Great video and review thank you.

I had this in a 4 way blind last fall and it came out 2nd. Fruit salad is a great description. Very enjoyable whiskey but not too complex. I found it on sale for $34 US.

Had this year's ago. It was a very good price at that time and enjoyed it. This distillery has a spirit character that comes through. Discovered that when also years ago I bought my first independent bottle a Glen Grant 22 yr CS 2nd fill ex bourbon cask. That one was fantastic, apples and warm caramel but the GG spirit character was right there like the 12. Good choice for an alternative in the Glencadam 10 Cheers Jim

Cheers Tim. That would maybe explain why this felt so well balanced. It certainly doesn't swing toward overly active casks so it would make sense that the spirit itself is what is driving here. Cheers buddy.

Interesting. Can get it Quebec, not in Ontario. Might give it a punt. Comparable price ($60+). Love the Glencadam 10. Picked it up recently in Edinburgh. Twas my b'day yesterday and so I was able to pick up some more Shelter Point core range. Samples, of course, to be taken. ;)

Thanks for reviewing this one, Jim. I managed to bypass Glen Grant completely, most likely due to not so good experiences I've had with a blend: Grant's. And I've linked those, which might be incorrect. Maybe I'll have to give it a try... or leave it and buy another Glencadam, a dram I like. Slàinte mhath

Hi Jim. A bit pricey considering if I wanted to buy this it would. cost me about €34 ( around £28) where I am.Only had the 10 and that was(in the earlier brown bottle) many moons ago. Would say though that a majority of people who buy this are not really bothered about colour and chill filtration . Enjoyed this video (as always) Jim, slàinte mhath.

Well, here in the Netherlands Glen Grant 12 is 32,50 euro and the Glencadam 10 is about 37 euro.....

If we had to choose a word to describe this whiskey (and the bottle), then we'd choose the word, 'classy'.

In Bulgaria Glen Grant 12 can be had for as much as roughly 30 euros. For an unoffensive, easy sipper at 43% it may pass as good value but still I wouldn't bother buying a full size bottle of it. Though I'd gladly taste a sample. Talking about alternatives Glencadam is blatantly overpriced over here. The 10 yo price pushes 50 euros which is roughly the same I have to pay for Glenallachie 10 Cask Strength or 15 yo. Therefore I'd consider Arran 10 as an alternative of Glen Grant. Arran is readily available for 26-27 euros and punches well above its price tag and age statement. Cheers!

3% of a 700 cl bottle is 21ml. A short dram. It seems like Glen Grant knows what their doing, right up until they filter it and put it in the bottle. 21mls of profit.
