GlenAllachie 12 | Whisky Tasting & Review

I'm a fan of Billy Walker. That guy has his hand in a lot of stuff! I go back and forth between the Glen Allachie 12 and 15. I like the 12 better without water, and 15 with a small amount of water to calm it down. Good sherry on both. Cheers!

I have my eye on the 15 and the 11 Port Wood too. Looks as though Billy is doing all of these different expressions that he was doing years ago at GlenDronach, and if they are anything like those they should be good!

Definitely not too sweet, if you like GlenDronach you will like GlenAllachie

I've tasted the glenallachie 12 it was a great whisky a lot of flavor, but i go for the tamdhu 12 .

Hope yours isn't one of the first batches which are much, much lighter in color and not that amazing. If you don't think it's really, really dark for a 12y, it's 100% the older version, keep that in mind in case you don't like it (also if you do, newer bottles are much better)

With whisky prices increasing I managed to grab a bottle on special for 110 Aud and I'm glad I purchased this bottle it is really good and the finish may not last forever but its not over oaked its really moreish. With water its opens up a bit more.....cheers!

i respeckt you bro i never can live in australia where you live en i explain olso why i love good expensive whisky bud in youre countrie prices are not normal i pay 43 euro vor a bottle of glenallachie 12 in europe you pay 110 austrailian dolllars vor the same bottle thats crazy

I really, really like the GlenAllachie 12. But the Bunnahabhain 12 is superior. Neither are 100% matured in sherry (the GA also uses virgin oak and the Bunna uses ex-bourbon) but both are very heavy on the sherry, so I consider them to be on the same category. The GA does feel more like a sherry bomb, I'll give you that, but the bunna is better in every department, from mouth feel, to complexity, to age (I'm 100% sure there's older juice in there). Regardless these are 2 bottles I always wanna have at hand.

I don't disagree with what you are saying my friend, it just comes down to preference on the day I am drinking either. Bunnahabhain is incredible whisky for sure.

Nice vid. SIr Billie had Dronak for 8 years then moved on (we KNOW what happened afterwards), now 2024 at Allak for 7 years already . . . beware. . . LOL , just speculations . . .

From what I can gather in interviews Billy Walker is settled in and still has unfinished work to do at GlenAllachie. Let's hope he continues!

I haven't tried any of the single casks and I have a few of the special release 11 year olds, but haven't gotten around to opening them. The core 12, 15 and cask strength 10 really are the go-to's

i can buy olmost 3 bottles glenallachie 12 vor the same price you pay vor 1 i think i pay 10 bucks more where i live vor 3 bottles as you buy 1 bottle

Yeah I hear you, it's pretty insane here. 43 Euro is about 72 AUD, but we have to pay 100 - 120 for this.

Yeah probably closer to 2 bottles, but I don''t disagree we aren't getting good pricing on most whisky in this country. Very heavily taxed. Appreciate your comments my friend 🥃

Its a cracker. Theres strong competition in the 12 sherried single malt division, but this is up there with the best.
