In most places where you can drink alcohol, you will need to order one drink. You will also be charged a seat charge of around 200 to 500 yen. The seat charge usually includes one appetizer. There is a culture of sharing a variety of dishes. If you want to eat without drinking alcohol, I recommend going to a restaurant-type restaurant.

The place you had dinner was Izakaya. Izakaya normally charges you 300 to 500yen for Otoshi, which is a small dish you get as a starter. It is compulsory. I checked their menu online and if you paid ¥4000 for three should be right. One dish is about JPY500, tea is JPY400, Otoshi is probably JPY500 per person. You don’t have to worry about rip-off in Japan. You need to careful only in the bars in Kabukicho or bars where you are dragged to be there.

I love getting lost in amongst a sea of fellow human beings. Especially when you don’t know them and they are well mannered like the Japanese. I hate going to my local pak n save in my small rural NZ town because I can’t make it down one aisle without running in to someone I know. Far North 😊

If ye play a video game Yakuza 5,there is Dotonbori in the game but different name. An American film called Black rain was filmed in Dotonbori, Kyobashi so on in Osaka city,Japan too. Glico man is running man as a signage of snack/sweets maker Glico like Pocky from Glico. This Tuesday I went to see Iron Maiden's concert at Osaka jo castle hall,Osaka,Japan. There were some Irish people holding banners then Bruce Dickinson talked with them before a song called death of the Celts. cheers
