Municipal officials of Malay, Aklan, which covers Boracay, ordered the shutdown of West Cove for lack of business permit. The DENR demolition edict was due to West Cove's erection of permanent structures in a forestland it was allowed temporarily to use for tourism. Actual closure and demolition were stayed, however.

Hi Mado and Glen, just a bit of trivia, you know Puka beach has been famous in the 70's for their super white Puka Shells that made into bracelets, necklaces, earings, buttons and for more accesories and that's where it gets the name - Puka beach. And you know it's more better to go along the beach shore early in the morning for it is not so crowded during the morning and when it gets later the day and the more people showing up specially during the sunset hour late noon. Enjoy your adventure. Salamat!

Be aware that not all locals are socialble like you want them to be. You are the tourist, you are the foreigner. Some folks do lot like tourists. Especially if you ask too many questions. Just enjoy and not to ask too many questions. Don’t ask if there are happy. Don’t them that they have a nice cycle. Some of your comments are offensive. Be more quiet and don’t get in there space. ⭐️ Philippines isn’t a price-haggling culture. Haggling in many businesses hurt the meager bottomline. Tourists have actually brought the culture from our neighbors (Malaysia, Indonesia, etc). So tourist spots have now learned to markup. Ask, assess the honesty- kindness goes a long way. ❤
@DutchDudeDauinDumaguete4 ай бұрын
It`s not about culture......Everywhere you go in the world there are people to take advantage of tourists or travelers......
@polgonzales4 ай бұрын
@@DutchDudeDauinDumaguete Growing up, there was no haggling at all like they do in Malaysia for instance. There, one has to assume the “first” price is double or more. One then needs to haggle the price down. Even today, that is NOT how we do it in daily business. It’s FIXED PRICE. Tourists have brought the culture here assuming we mark up prices exorbitantly. So even locals are irked by this practice. Now, that not to say there are NO scammers- that’s ANYWHERE. That is why I say you need to assess the honesty of the seller. If there’s any kind of in-your-face hard selling, that’s probably a scam- walk away. However, I would not haggle if the price is reasonable and I can afford it. That’s just common streetsmarts, my friend. A little bit of kindness too. The only place, we’d see sone haggling is among locals in WET MARKETS where only locals go. There, one may ask a “suki” (a favorite seller one has a relationship with) to try to get a discount- local life can be hard. But that’s among locals and there is usually a relationship established. You’re Dutch, aren’t you? Well, I was born and raised here- a full-blooded Filipino. I know what I’m talking about.
@polgonzales4 ай бұрын
@GlenAndMado Like said before, Glenn and Mado, you’re the kind of tourists we like- respectful and genuinely trying to understand the culture. Others, are just so assuming- even forcing their ways. Btw… That motorcycle is a bit on the high side. But all the bread and restaurant food- FIXED PRICE.
@DutchDudeDauinDumaguete4 ай бұрын
@@polgonzales Me being Dutch has got nothing do to with it.......Me, as an experienced traveller and after 30 years of travelling, living in the Phillipines i also know what i`m talking about....Just saying that wherever you go there will always be people try to take advantage because you don`t know the prices and/or customs....

⭐️ I don’t know why anyone would recommend that you visit West Cove. It was a resort-hotel that built illegally on a natural rock formation. There is no longer any way to recover its natural beauty but the structure still had to be destroyed. Allowing them to stay in business would be immoral. It was part of the island recovery efforts. Btw, the tricycles are electric in keeping with ecological preservation.

For ur info, Boracay was the first project of Pres. Duterte, to clean,construct roads, drainage and wastage system. Remove all old types of tricycle that were creating pollution then replaced with e-bikes and other forms of transports that were transmitting and exhausting pollution. Beaches are cleaned and beaches easement were well done, removing houses and other extended buildings eyesore to the public. Roads are built around the island with good drainage and waste water system. The 6 yr. Rehabilitations was successful in 6 yrs The period of repair were not enough but they left only the minor jobs because some other tourist spots like Coron and Bohol were also rehabilitated. Maybe in the future they will continue to beautify some of the beaches in Ph. Together with these projects ports and seaports were also rehabilitated into world class.
