Looks great and I'm looking forward to this more than any other line under construction! It does seem like there's some installation and work to do which would surprise me for it being ready in January. I'd be disappointed if it got set back any more. But the video concluded with it being ready in about 2 months, so that's promising and I'm excited! Also didn't see updates about readying Claremont and Montclair now that funding exists.

My understanding is that construction of the next segment won't begin until some time after this section opens. But the funding is completely in place so it shouldn't be long.

Will definitely ride it once it opens. Hopefully, LA Metro will do it on a weekend with free LA Metro rides throughout the system for the opening.

@@GeotpfFunding, yes. Construction rights and other paperwork, who knows. It took several years for this phase of the expansion project to even begin.

The light rail station I think might open relatively soon. But the People Mover itself is going to take another year apparently.
@mrxman581Ай бұрын
They will probably open around the same time. The C and K lines were reconfigured a couple of weeks ago in anticipation of the opening of the LAX/Metro Transit Center. Both of these projects should be open in the 1st quarter of 2025.
@GeotpfАй бұрын
@@mrxman581False. The People Mover had been delayed again until early 2026.

LA Foothill Project To Montclair to Ontario International Airport ✈️
@BrownBrother27Ай бұрын
You'll need to convince SBCTA, L.A. Metro, Ontario International Airport, and the local governments in San Bernardino County along the route. SBCTA's too focused on that ONT Tunnel. 🤦🏽♂️ I support the extension to Montclair and eventually ONT.
@mrxman581Ай бұрын
That's not up to LA Metro. That's up to the other transit agencies in the other counties.

@@mrxman581San Bernardino is greater LA plus San Bernardino funds LA metro
@mrxman581Ай бұрын
@JustanothaLAresident That's not true. You're confusing LA Metro with the Metrolink service. All 5 counties that are served by Metrolink help fund it. LA Metro is funded by the Los Angeles government and voters through higher sales taxes.
@JustanothaLAresident29 күн бұрын
@ metrolink also serves San Diego county which isn’t greater LA but the Aine will go to Montclair which San Bernardino County and it’s not too far from Ontario international.

This is what I want to know. It's cool that it will be "substantially complete" by Jan 2025, but that just sounds like a way of saying "we're basically done, but who knows when we'll actually let you start riding....????"

Just say A line 😂
@GeotpfАй бұрын
There is a legal entity called "Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority" that is in charge of this project. The name of such was never changed to reflect what the open segment is currently called.
@JustanothaLAresidentАй бұрын
@ oh it’s a construction company I see but those guys are awesome
@mrxman581Ай бұрын
@Geotpf It's the A line and is part of the LA Metro system. The construction entity is just that. They just built it. It belongs and will be run by LA Metro, so it's the A line and is referred to as such in all maps of existing and future segments. BTW, the Gold line no longer exists either.

Why couldn't they just build the parking garage instead? So that will way the cars don't get all hot and humid during Summer time.
@EJ-ul5umАй бұрын
I would think there's a lot more cost to building a structure, as well as time. Although very useful with how hot it is especially between July and September, I also question how many spaces would be used and needed to make a multiple story garage.
@jarrodxc70Ай бұрын
The garage option wasn't chosen due to the fact that future planning was conducted. So for example, if one day in the future, Metro & the local City determines that the parking lot isn't needed due to people using other modes of transportation to get to the station (walk, bike, bus, etc), then the lot could be easily rezoned into high-density residential housing. This allows for more Transit Oriented Development in a prime location. Had a garage been built, it would require extra cost to demolish the structure, much more than tearing out a surface lot. In the meantime, the amount of trees being planted for shading of the lots should help ease your concerns about hot cars... to a degree of course.
@mrxman581Ай бұрын
@@jarrodxc70Exactly, correct. If a parking structure is built in the future, it will be part of TOD with housing, retail, and commercial businesses.

As i said from the beginning, this is as useless because transit officials don't care about public transportation. The supporters are the car lovers who pretend to be transit advocates. I live 5 minutes walking distance from bus stop. I live 5 miles from Cal Poly Pomona. This will n9t hel0 me. Unlike train in other countries, rail systems outside New York in USA don't care about non car drivers. Wait, isn't the rails helping non car drivers. Thats not Rail agencda. Selfish train lovers. Keep good work to help auto n oil industry. Rail supporters are doing excellent jobs helping auto n oil industry.
@EnrobdoolbАй бұрын
I do agree (with you) that the US is VERY car reliant, but the reason LA is expanding public trans now is cuz of The Olympics Many tourist outside of the US are more fond of public trans and obviously the US wants to cater to them (cuz easy money). While ik The Olympics hurt most countries that host them, it actually benefited US!!! Hope more public trans gets implemented! The one I wish they added is a speed rail from DTLA to Disneyland cuz $35 parking at Disneyland is absolutely ridiculous We need a fast train to Disneyland lol (MetroLink doesn't count cuz it's awful. Might as well just drive cuz tickets aren't cheap for MetroLink)
