Another cracking review Ben, we managed to nip into Glenkinchie this year when we did our grand tour. Of course I had to treat myself to a bottle of the 12 year old. They were selling off the game of thrones whiskies so managed to get a couple of bottles for me and my son. The new visitor centre was very impressive and the guides were all friendly and inviting. We'll worth a visit.

Glenkinchies is the distillery with a scale model right? I've heard its a great distillery to visit but we've never been in/near Edinburgh for long enough to run out of stuff to do and make the journey 😅 We've only done weekend visits and normally had to shoot North straight after. We'll get there someday 👍 Not come across the GK GoT's bottle - is it any good?

@@WhiskyGeek it has the largest scale model, the walk up to the visitors centre is breathtaking and they have the atmosphere spot on. Each of the four distilleries has a commissioned painting by a Scottish artist called Scott Naismith, they are stunning. Not tried the GOT whiskies yet but will report back when I eventually get round to opening my bottle. Think I got the Cardhu Gold Reserve for my son and the Singleton Glendullan Reserve for me.

I always see this on the shelf and leave it there. Thanks for the review. Bladnoch seems like a significantly better option for a lowlands.

I'm yet to try a Bladnoch, will have to keep an eye out. Cheers Carlos 👍

Hi Ben good review, blimey! don’t remember how many years ago I last had this. Will probably not be buying this anytime soon either. Slàinte Ben

Thanks David, it's another whisky that suffers vs the alternatives at its price point in my opinion. £40 opens a lot of great options to us! 🥃👍

Hey Ben 😁 I'm in Edinburgh this August. Which distilleries would you visit? Im thinking about Glenkinchie and Glengoyne. Unfortunately Islay is too long of a trip.

I'm not jealous at all 😉 The Scotch Whisky Experience in Edinburgh is a great experience for more of an overview of Scotch, history & regions. Good tasting bar & food too. I've not been to Glenkinchie myself but have only heard good things. It's probably the easiest to access from Edinburgh. Glenoyne is about 1:30 from Edinburgh - bit of a trek but well worth it. Lindores (1:05) was a great experience for a modern distillery on grounds with loads of history. I quite like the whisky too 😉 Tullibardine (1:07) is about of an unsung hero in my opinion. Good tour finishing in a great tasting room. Deanston (1:01) offers fantastic tours (warehouse tasting is spot on) and has a great cafe too. Edradour (1:25) is on my 'to do' list, looks like it should be great and, thanks to a load of Signatory stock on-site there is a wide range of naturally presented single cask bottlings available Spoilt for choice 🥃👍

Haha perhaps you were also drunk? 😉 My camera F-ed up my first attempt so I had to rerecord this video - it was beginning to get to me!

Do you think you'd save a dram or two from some of those nearly empty bottles and put them into an infinity bottle?
@WhiskyGeek3 жыл бұрын
I'm yet to start an infinity bottle. Every time I've messed around with blending I've either had to be quite considered & intentional otherwise it's turned out rubbish 😂 I suppose the freedom of an infinity bottle is to not worry about it and just see what happens. 🥃👍

@@WhiskyGeek that's how I've done mine, each whiskey I like, I add a bit. it's quite an eclectic bottle at present, with bourbon, scotch and Irish whiskeys, but it somehow works as an easy sipper
