It really doesn't matter if she finally gets her (very deserved) Oscar or not, she will always be a legend and her brilliant work will always be remembered.

It matters. She deserves to be recognized by The Academy for her contribution to the film industry. It's not too different a scenario than her character's in this film. Yes. She's a legend, but it's wrong that someone as brilliant as Glenn Close keeps getting snubbed by the establishment.

"The Wife" a great movie was practically the whole story of my 42 year marriage to a malignant Narcissistic sociopathic/psychopathic REAL Dr.Jekyll/Mr Hyde husband who also dropped dead of a heart attack at the end four years ago! Left the movie theater stunned seeing practically myself on screen! And I could totally relate to the character having been a professional artist, illustrator/painter and composer and my husband had to take credit for everything and once told me, that "You would never have gotten your work out if it weren't for me"! I could so relate to Glenn's character at the end when the airline stewardess goes on about having such a talented husband who really had none and abused and exploited her great talent and erroneously thought they had such a great marriage..not! Glenn's character was also CO-DEPENDENT and she needed therapy and ALANON big time which helped me tremendously along with hundreds of videos about it at KZbin University which saved my life as well as reading many great books on the topic as "KNOWLEDGE IS POWER" like they say! Art reflects life and life reflects art and Love IS blind, two famous quotes which are true! Hope she gets the Oscar she certainly deserves it! Thanks for sharing! ;

She does not deserve an oscar for the Wife. If we are awarding BEST performing for the year, then it should go to Lady Gaga for Star is Born. If you want to award Glenn Close's body of work, then give her an honorary oscar. But dont cheat other deserving actresses out of the award cause she could never turn in the best performance for that particular year.
@bolder20096 жыл бұрын
Ruth Wilson is equally as deserving of a 2019 best actress Oscar for her performance in Dark River which got a limited UK release early this year. Not many theatres screened it unfortunately. A strong case could also be made for the magnetic Joanna Kulig who was extraordinary in Cold War, and new comer, Yalitza Aparicio in Roma. And of course Viola Davis in Widows. BUT regardless of who gets a shiny trophy, the great performances speak for themselves and every year there are deserving actresses who don't win an Oscar despite outstanding acting.
