To this day and forty years of being a Spurs fan, this man is still the best player I was lucky enough to see play in the flesh. Great choice of goals

Thank you, I am glad that you enjoyed the video. Hoddle was different class, you don’t see players like him anymore or shall I say is as good as him. COYS

The two reasons I support Spurs. Dad would have disowned me if I didn't and then we had the greatest midfielder of his time. Hoddle is still my favorite Spurs player

The reason I support Spurs. 81 FA Cup was my first, didn't know who to support. After watching highlights of his goals I knew I had to support the team he played for. Magical player. My favourites were that free kick against Wimbledon. Jumped out of my chair when that went in. And that goal against Oxford. Got the VHS 6 of the best from the 80s and that match is included. I always rewind the moment when he ghosted past the defence, unbelievable skill! I always regret we didn't win anything that season. We had a great formation of 4,5,1 and team with the likes of Clemence, Gough and Mabbutt the perfect centre backs, Waddle skilful genius along with Ardiles, the terrier Paul Allen and Clive goal machine Allen.

You picked the right team to support, COYS. Hoddle was a genius of a player, a joy to watch. Spurs were a very good team back in the early 80s, playing great football and had some great players at the time too and who played for the shirt always

If England had made the team around Glenn Hoddle, we would've won the world cup.. Zidane would have known as "French Hoddle".. Glenn was that talented.. u can't find a complete midfielder like him... Criminal treatment by England FA..
@davidbrooks187 Жыл бұрын
That’s pretty much what I said in the Tottenham Till I Die book. Hoddle was a genius, years ahead of his time & revered around the world by the footballing greats but treated disgracefully by the English FA .

In the same way Italy built a team around Pirlo... unfortunately we will never know.. I Love Glenn even know. My boyhood hero and watching stuff like this pulls at my heart strings...I cried when he went to Monaco..best England manger since Venables r.i.p...

Ahead of his time. Not only imagine him on today's pitches, but what about today's training/fitness and support from other players. The back heel trick from Archibald and chip pass by Hazard goal (6:24) would have been a far more common sight with Hoddle's finishing. Usually reserved for Brazil in those days.

On todays football pitches Hoddle would of been unplayable.

An extraordinary and supremely talented footballer who was one of the first in English football to show what could be done with two good feet rather than one. Right foot, left foot, it didn't matter, he was lethal at any range with either foot. Today we expect players to be competent with either foot, back those days it was rarely the case.

Yes. They were c u n ts back then.

Probably not, Paul Gascoigne was the closest player since
@lexsoft39696 жыл бұрын
Gascoigne was promising in WC 1990, but he dribbled too much at times. Then came Mathew Le Tissier, but I only know him by watching videos about him. Imo, these three : Hoddle, Gascoigne and Le Tissier are the most gifted players England has ever produced.
@DingKong6 жыл бұрын
I'd also put Peter Beardsley into that category too. But Hoddle was the greatest of them all.
@tigerarmyrule5 жыл бұрын
@@lexsoft3969 Gascoigne vastly overratged but Hoddle was pure class. England has produced great players like Finney and Matthews both of whom were world class truly all time great but of the ast 40 years no English player has been better than Hoddle....or as good.
