I had a used one in high school and into college; my first car. 'Lemans blue, white racing stripes, 302 DZ, Muncie 4-speed, Hurst shifter, 4:56 rearend. It had been modified, and balanced and blueprinted; TRW 11:1 pop-up aluminum pistons, Crane Blazer cam; Blackjack headers; etc. When I got it I tweaked it a bit, and put a 125-shot NOS kit on it. We used to cruise the strip in Houston (Westheimer Rd.) on Friday and Saturday nights. My Texas personalized tag was, "LMN8R". Man, what good times! And, gas was less than a dollar.

Love the sound of them increasing RPMs very quick and smooth is it a true DZ302 with solid lift cam?

The sound and power of a " 5.0 Litre " 302 Chevy is nothing less than incredible! I imagine what it would have been like to drive one off of the showroom floor and on to the streets ! Although the cars of today are so brutally powerful and fast, they will NEVER have the same effect as what those cars had ! 👍

Yeah I agree. Seems like everything relies on a supercharger these days, it's cool and impressive but I just love the old school NA muscle cars

That moment when that barracuda owner reslises that you're doing 80 mph in 1st gear and the gm factory gave you 4 forward moving gears, and the kicker is that with that 373 rear-end you still have plenty of room for acceleration before you have to shift up...

Sounds good. Is the transmission a Muncie 2.20 or a Borg warner Super T-10? , I remember driving a 69 Camero Z-28 302 back in 1977 and it pulled realy hard after 4000 rpm, it had the Muncie short throw shifter with 411's. Thanks for the video.

Good for you, I,d rather ride a bike than drive one of those overrated z,s. If they were so fast how come you never hear about them.wasting Boss 302,s or Mach 1 s with 351,s . Cuz they were a pooch off the line and only came to life around 6000 rpm.

The 302s were fast, powerful little engines, but they didn't hold up well at all, most were blown up, 327s were far more durable.
