Hey Glenn, i was in the 172 that day ahead of you guys flying the parallel universe lol. That was a great day and glad to see the bikes worked out for you. The landings in Tobermory are always kind of wonky it seems maybe because of the wind blowing sideways from the lake over the trees. You mentioned your adsb, is it diversity enabled and i assuming its part of your dynon system? Joe

Glenn, THANK-YOU for these videos. I’m living vicariously through these. I’ve had to settle for being an sUAS “pilot” and your videos help take the sting out of not being able to fly. Taking off is my favourite part of flying. Landing means the fun is over. Full adoption of ADS-b would certainly take some task saturation away. It’s easily a top 5 concern for me, trying to locate nearby aircraft by line of sight. Killer hat btw

Hi Glenn, In my ultralight days I had a partial solution to this. I used a handheld portable radio with a "rubber duckie" antenna. It was so weak that if I could hear them, they were close. If they could hear me, they were really close. It spared me hunting for traffic so far away it wasn't a threat! A simpler time. JD

Cypress Lake Park up that way, you could ride the bikes there, too. We enjoyed the glass bottom boat ride to Flower Pot Is. I was laughing at your subtitles, because I knew exactly what was meant, but not transcribed correctly. As usual, great flying/traveling video. Yes before my dad was laid off at Orenda engines in Toronto, we used to vacation at Wasauga Beach in the 1950’s. Since I’ve ended up in MO (USA). I’ve missed out on butter tarts! Soft is truly messy, but firm is my goal. Thanks for some audio of the flight, but great video/reasonable conversation. I would suggest you try some sailplane flying, every flight starts out with formation flying, every landing is a dead stick! Next time send some beer to Travels with Geordie in Vancouver!

With that other traffic at 4500, not being able to see them and them not being on ADS-B, how tempted were you to climb to 6500 or descend to 2500? Being from Chicago, and growing up on Lake Michigan before the zebra muscles filtered everything, looking down on the water at Lion's Head from the rock was absolutely stunning - clear and blue like you imagine a tropical water to be, just much more cold. The Helix bikes look great, and if they aren't too harsh (TI is super stiff) all the more impressive!

@GlensHangar 2 жыл бұрын
Canadian registered planes are generally C-F / CF - (Registered prior to 1974 - ish), or CG- (after 1974), or CI- (ultralights). The 'C' isn't specifically for Canada; a bunch of other countries also use registration marks that start with 'C': Morocco, Portugal, Uruguay, Chile, and a few more that I can't remember.

Hi Glenn! Great video! Thank you for posting it. So, on Monday I bought my first plane. It just happens to be a 172B. So far I love everything but the panel. How do you like Dynon? It looks to be a really nice and affordable option. Any dislikes so far? Anything that is outstanding?
@GlensHangar
@GlensHangar 2 жыл бұрын
I love the Dynon panel - so much 'bang for the buck' and a really easy install / setup. The video being released on Oct 29 is one where I give an inflight rundown of the things I like / dislike about the panel. All of the dislikes are things I knew going in: The Dynon AutoPilot isn't certified for the 172B airframe, the Dynon intercom isn't certified - things like that.

All told less than 30 hours to install - mind you we had already ripped out everything that was there, and then rebuilt the electrical system before putting in the Dynon. There was down time as well as we went back and forth on the layout and testing locations for each system.

Hi Glenn just wondering how you like the wing x extensions ? I have a 172 float plane I’m contemplating the wing x but have heard that they make the aircraft float in ground effect what are your thoughts so far with the wing x I have a Horton stol installed 160 hp with power flow exhaust
@GlensHangar
@GlensHangar 2 жыл бұрын
The biggest problem I’m having right now with my landings is the ‘float’ from the wing extensions. I flew a non modified 172 last week and landing was easy - a whole lot easier! But on taking off the plane jumps up faster, and I know that once I get past my fear of flying as slow as the plane now goes (stalls in the low 30mph range) landing will be easier and the floating will go away.
