This video is to show the function of the secondary air holes just below the load door on a Glenwood No. 6 base heater . At one time these holes supplied air to an "air ring" . There is no longer an air ring in this stove but the holes still supply air to the top of the coal bed in the fire pot. The second part of the video is to show the function of the nickel plated skirting . The smoke rises and is drawn into the skirt and then pushed back out . This is the convection current the stove creates . Cooler air moves under the skirts and rapidly heats and then moves back out as cooler air continues to move in which constantly heats the air in the room and moves it back out eliminating the need for any electric blowers .
