Thanks for the timely video, I was wondering how this was going to work. I would think that if only 5 of my 10 users had opted in to push notifications, then my account would only be using 5 updates, but your video indicates that might not be the case unless we specify the push only goes to those 5. It will be interesting to watch as this develops.

Thanks for the video, helpful as always. Unfortunately for my use cases I think we’d burn through our updates way too quickly if we implemented this (we have conferences with sometimes thousands of students in attendance), but we may be able to use it on some smaller projects.

Would love to! I'm waiting for either PDF monkey or docs Automator to support multi line fields. Currently both platforms only allow for a single value to replace a single value but in these instances, we want an array of values to dynamically populate a list of line items.

Thanks for your great videos! Do you know what the new "Push Notifications access granted" integration does? It looks like it just puts a true in a column. Is this just a shortcut to Set Values?

It's both a set value and an opt-in to notifications on the device.

@@RobertPetittoWA thanks. I looked more into this. It appears that it only sets the column true if the app is actually installed on the Home Screen. If you try to apply that after the request function in the browser, it doesn’t set the checkbox. Looks like a good check of whether they actually got the request permission and whether it applies because the app was installed. It however doesn’t know if you hit deny while installed as aPWA

Any tips on how to point send push notification action to a field of comma separated emails. Is this even possible? I have my emails for who the notification should go to stored with the comment when the comment action button is pushed but I'm not sure how the array of emails should be structured. Great video and thanks for doing all of these!

Use a split text column to convert the comma separated emails into an array and use the array in the action.

What you're looking for is time-based or condition-based actions. Glide is planning on releasing this feature later in the year.

Hello! I am using glide to create an MVP for class. We would like to keep our app open for anyone, so no sign up or athentification. Would it still be possible to use this feature? I struggle to see how to triger the action for users to allow the pushnotifications. Thank you for the video! And sorry, english is not my first language!

I’m 98% sure that it won’t work if you don’t force users to sign into the app. Push notifications are only able to be sent to app users via their email addresses.

Hi, when I try to create a new action with "Send push notification" selected, the block is highlighed in red, even though all the information is filled in. I couldn't get the push notifications to work. Any idea why and what I can do to get it working? Thanks

great video! what if i wanted to only send a push notification to relevant people listed in that row, for example if the name column has 2 names in it (multiple choice box) and on submit i only wanted those 2 users to receive a notification, how would i go about that?

The notifications need to be sent to email addresses, so perhaps the choice component is set up to write emails (but display names). Then, you’d split the addresses using a split text column. Use that column in the push notification action.

But I also hope that Glide will increase the number of updates. If not, many APPs cannot be used. Especially if they are apps for calculations.

No, your app is a Classic App that would need to be rebuilt in the new Glide Apps (formerly Glide Pages). These features are not available for Classic Apps

Because it’s a computed column, not a a basic column, so they can be manually checked/unchecked

I understand about the computed column. What I don't comprehend is the purpose of this column. If it indicates users who have allowed push notifications on their respective devices, this column should not be checked when I just added a fake email to the user sheet. Pretty sure this column shows just for the signed in user. It might show every user checker or unchecked based on who’s signed in: misleading I agree.
