Oh and this applies especially to acrylic sprays, not so much water based and never shake up-and-down, but rather like ringing a bell - backwards and forwards.

Hi, another fellow Canadian, Toronto area. The glue acts as a stabilizer and that means that when you spray, the specks of glitter will adhere to the paper/background and not flake off with movement or over time. I use alcohol (highest % is best) and the only difference is that alcohol dries/evaporates faster than water. Hope you don't mind my notes.
@Fangs4DaMemories7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I was wondering about the difference between alcohol sprays versus water. :)

And if you don’t have glue handy, hair spray works great too , and helps to dry up fast.

This video is the most well-made of the many glimmer mist dupe videos I've watched on KZbin. Thank you for taking the time to have a video that is well organized, well lit, and rife with immediately useful info (e.g., how much paint to use, which type of paint for which type of effect). Well done!

Now well-known facts about home made sprays, especially with glimmer/glitter...they will clog! Without a doubt! To minimise this, first cut the tube, on a diagonal, to just above the bottom of the bottle, store horizontally and cleanse spray mechanism after every use.

@cgparrish60 thanks for your question :) I added the glue as a precaution. I didn't know if the metallic paint would flake or rub off. It didn't either way. But this glimmer/shimmer spray works like a dream. I've even mixed colours (in the bottles) and made different shades. Thanks a bunch!

The problem is that you added so much water you under-bound the paint. You need to use an acrylic medium. They come in a variety of consistencies. Chose either satin or gloss, glazing, flow aid/improver, acrylic polymer or airbrush is pretty thin..regardless of what you chose, read the back label to find out how much water you can add. Under no circumstances add more than 20% water. Also all of the paints you have are about as cheap as you can get. The manufacture has already taken the liberty of watering it down and using as little pigment as possible. I would scratch those altogether and just use pigment or ANY mica based eye shadow. You can buy 50 grams (THAT IS ALOT!!!) of pigment for $3.00 or so on Ebay or buy LA Colors eye shadow from Dollar Tree. Cheap and effective. Just add the pigment to an Acrylic Polymer or medium..the craft and art stores are full of them.

@OneHappyCraftyChick You're sooo welcome! This option is great because out of one bottle of paint, you can create 5-7 bottles of shimmer sprays. Of course, it all depends on how much paint you add to each one. Plus, the paint often goes on sale...BONUS! Thanks for watching! Hugs, Lina

I have tried this with the worst most absolutely awful results, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I used less paint than you did too actually but it got all thick and nasty then ruined my bottles. I may actually have used alcohol instead of water, so could that be the reason anyone know??? I'm tired of pulling those dang spray bottles apart and trying to fix them. So frustrating! Lol I'm going to go try your method with water right now, yes at 3 am lol cuz I'm curious. Thanks for the vid! Melissa
