I'd say Glitch Factory is probably what you'd want, it can be easily modified to be used like a DJ setup with extra things in it.
@MrBillsTunes12 жыл бұрын
Yeah exactly, There's limitations to what we could do with the APC20 in terms of playing live, the only way it'd really work for something like this is in conjunction with another controller that has knobs, such as a BCR2000 or something, however when we made this we were keeping in mind the amount of gear needed to set-up/travel with. The idea here is to streamline everything into the minimum amount of gear with maximum efficiency and control, hence the script component of the template.
@MrBillsTunes12 жыл бұрын
No worries, glad to help. Our focus here was streamlining. We both travel a lot and play shows all over the world, so rather than cart around lots of gear on planes we wanted to come up with something that'd be efficient and very powerful yet only use one piece of gear. I think this modification does that nicely :)

In any case, You two have done some amazing work with this mapping. I'm absolutely grateful for your hard work. And the price-point you're offering it at is extremely fair. You deserve every penny. Keep up the good work fellas, you're kings among men!
@SamIves8512 жыл бұрын
I think so too. I was torn between the 2x Launchpads and the 25SL combo and the APC40. There's pros and cons with both options but I feel like I made the right choice. I'll upload some videos demonstrating my gears uses soon :)

I just push the gain on the limiter until there's a couple of dB of gain reduction on Live's native limiter. That usually seems to sound punchy enough and loud enough for my purposes.

Great template. I've modified this to be more in line with how I play e.g. removing the L/R frequency fade from the cue knob (which i don't find particularly intuitive) and adding tempo change, plus a bunch of other tweaks but fully recommend checking this out. Nice work Will + Bill.
@MrBillsTunes12 жыл бұрын
If you're keen to contact Will I'd suggest commenting on his channel. The installation video is probably a good video to ask him on (which contains instructions on how to install this template/script). That can be found on his channel by searching "Glitch Factory: Installation Instructions". However, I'm not sure we'll cover the APC20. I think next on the cards is the Ohm64.
@MrBillsTunes12 жыл бұрын
Ok, to begin with, almost everything you've asked has been answered in this video and the installation video which can be found on the product page. MIDI Setup: Have the APC40 script set to APC40Live, set the input and output to APC40, then set track and remote to on for input and output (don't worry about sync, that's only used for syncing multiple Ableton's). All your problems should be non existant if you set this up correctly.

Even though I don't own an APC40 I can still make a similar layout using my 2 Launchpads and 25SL MkII. I'm currently making my own remote scripts for the SL so I can also replicate some of the controls here. Rather than try to change the behaviour of the Launchpad I could avoid scene launching. Sooner or later I'm gonna want to perform my pre-made productions like this and this video has basically explained how I can do it. Thanks for sharing! Wicked intro btw! ;)

Sorry about that, however, when making this, I was kind of designing the effects for my style of music. The effects would probably work for a range of styles though!
@tylrbass12 жыл бұрын
as for making the stems louder.. I render them at -6db and just adjust the clip volume to match a professionally mastered tune.. maybe i'm sacrificing a bit of quality by using stems to perform rather than mastered tunes but it's 10000x more fun and gratifying..
@DavidFlinders12 жыл бұрын
Also, speaking of that murky bit of explanation regarding the track, remote, and sync settings, it'd sure be helpful to have you explain how this should be set up in painstaking detail, because, as it sits, I'm not even close to sure that I've configured these settings right, and I'm afraid that may be the root of the problems I'm having. Also, occasionally the Master ppm meter aka clip track trigger buttons just stop working. As do the other clip trigger buttons.

Dudes... this be aces :) think this may just be the basis of what i'm needing to get going. Couple of questions though, I only have the apc20 can i still get this to work ok? I use it with the evolution uc-33 & was hoping i can just move some of the mapping? Main probs I can see would be maping so when individual track is selected the same pots are changing the rack on that channel. What are your thoughts? Oh sidenote, some flaming hot sounds u got too!! :)
@DavidFlinders12 жыл бұрын
From the first time i loaded this template (following the instructions to the letter (exc for the murky bit regarding the inputs and outputs remote enabling in the midi tab in options menu) I've had trouble with the bottom row of buttons triggering the fade to black effect (yes I've messed with the slider that controls that parameter's wet/dry) basically, they don't turn it on, so I manually midi mapped em to just be on or off, instead of the way they were designed: on only when held down.
@DavidFlinders12 жыл бұрын
All apologies sir. I thought I listened intently and painstakingly followed the instructions, but I'm human and quite fallible. The odd thing about the errors I was having were that they were intermittent. Initially everything would work great, but then, after messing about for awhile, the automap to device function would just stop working and the other problems I described ensued, so I assumed it was something other than a configuration issue. Once I can test your suggestion, I'll let u know

Also, the device mapping seems to get stuck on a single device and despite what clip i'm viewing (and despite the blue hand showing up on that track's macro 8) the bottom eight knobs on my apc40 don't take over the control of that device. It's quite odd. I'm also not clear on how to use the send macro effects (unless i'm just completely misunderstanding their purpose entirely.) Thanks for any help you can give.

I really want to buy this but I'm worried it won't work. I have just downloaded the free DJ template on your website but it won't work. I have Ableton Live 8 Suite on PC.... I have installed everything but when I open the template it says that it was created on a "more recent" edition of Ableton and isn't compatible with mine. Is that right? I thought Live Suite 8 WAS the most recent? I don't have the cash to upgrade to anything else. Please let me know if theres a way I can make this work.
