Yes oh, Mr. Nedu it is only prayer that we can give to our children. My mom use to get very sad that she could not pay our school fees and take some responsibilities on us but she takes us to church and pray at home and all. But my point is that throughout my journey in life na God wey my mama give me dey carry me dey go.
@hon.counsellordan.9654 Жыл бұрын
Tobechukwu is really making sense. God bless you my brother. Influence comes from all angles and we need to thoroughly look at every angle. If the church doesn't preach material possessions as success then members won't embrace it. As a counselor, the family has badly influenced many young people. No fathers or mother probe what their son brings home anymore. This conversation is just a blessing.
@MoriyonIpuole Жыл бұрын
That feeling of hopelessness and discouragement that envelops you after watching and analyzing all that has been deliberated upon in this video, and accepting that it is indeed true!!! As a parent I fear for my kids, knowing that there is a limit to how much I can impact them before they hit Adolescence and begin to question everything they have been taught and make sense of things that you deliberately hid from them just as Dr, Foy said: *Gatekeeping*
@miriam2491 Жыл бұрын
I can relate so much to seeds of a parent. As an orphan, there is this grace that still abounds with me, and i know for a fact that i am reaping the good deeds of my late parents. I really do like this podcast and watch every Monday. I feel like I would like to hear from a point a view that is younger and more gen z like. The conversations can be very one sided and I think this would provide more versatility and better conversation. It feels like i’m watching my aunts and uncles perception on how young people are this day and age, and I actually want to hear from a young person with more of a progressive mindset.
@chiemelieanuligo1003 Жыл бұрын
Well, It's a matter of right from wrong.values doesn't differ with age. What is wrong from the older generation cannot just become right because we are the "younger generation" or "(gen z)" because whatever age you are, we all still share the same truth no matter how you want to diversity or polish the ideas or reasons we have for them.

Great topic guys! Dr Foy was engaging and elevated the conversation. Nedu nearly derailed the discussion today. He is an atarodo to the show. Sometimes it flavourful other times it upsets the stomach. As a 3 month old subscriber, I believe I’ve heard almost all Nedu’s anecdotal tales and his life experiences. Nedu should not make the show about himself. Let the other panelists speak too. I bet they have meaningful contributions. But it’s stifled when he is constantly “jumping in”. Else name the show “Nedu & the honest bunch” show. Ezinne seems to be the only panellist barely able to squeeze in her contributions edgewise, when Nedu is on a roll. Husband material (HB) is doing a great job of gently redirecting and summarising points made. He is able to move the discussion along by asking good leading questions. Keep doing that HB. HB need to be more forceful in cutting people off (especially Nedu), when they start to digress from the main topic. Have a timer for 5 minutes within view. Once there’s too much “I, my , me “…in the sentence just be like “sorry, but I would have to stop you there as we are out of time”. Nedu should practice active listening. There are many resources online. It will be more helpful if he shared a personal story as a basis of an inquiry as to how similar/common a take or dissimilar a take it is from your guest’s experience. Stop listening to share a “one-up” take. My eye are really sore from rolling them up and mouthing“here he goes again…”

Thank you. Growing up in the kind of home i had, an honest living was the only way possible. There was no way any child would turn out an olosho or yahoo boy and its not as if my parents were millionaires. The only thing we were guaranteed as kids was food and school fees. However we were taught to work honestly and legitimately for things we wanted. This generation of kids out there suffer from low self esteem thats why they are easily influenced by nonsense its really sad to see the regression of society. Imagine the kind of children they will raise smh.

@ 01:14:58 I understand 100% what Ezinne was trying to establish and yes, she's right. She was speaking from a standpoint of integrity and vulnerability. The fact that you can come out and own up to what you do (be it "good" or "bad") is a measure of your integrity. There is a very thin line between integrity, honesty, unity and wholeness. Integrity is being able to do the same thing in private (nobody's watching) and in public (everyone's watching). Integrity is directly proportional to vulnerability. If you have to hide to do what you do, then your problems are more complex than the one who does their stuff in the open. This is the reason why everybody agrees that babies have the purest form of integrity, cos these little Angels have nothing to hide. Thank you Ezinne for coming out strong on this one 🙏 #FactsOnly.

Dr Foy is amazing and intelligent and a good person. People don’t know the damage US/UK have done to Africans especially Nigerian. That aside, wickedness is on the increase. Parents don’t even ask their under 20 kids how they get the flashy things they use. Girls don’t want to suffer being with a man like their dad. Men just want to leave their parents house just because he wants to get freedom to bring different ladies home and not leaving responsibilities

I understand what Ezinne is saying about policing your family. So many parents in the past has tried the strict way and religious was. It doesn’t work. Parenting is an intentional everyday work of first getting through to your child through empathy and compassion. Be friends with them and pray just as Nedu said. The world out there is dangerous and having both parents working and raising kids creates a porous loophole in raising a child. It’s will take sacrifice and endless days of worrying and figuring what will work but it will be good at the end of the day. Great conversation

Guys I love this discussion you brought up today, a lot of things have fallen apart in my country. The very first thing is that parents have failed so much in the upbringing of their kids, gone are the days parents will seriously want to know where you got those luxuries you brought home, most especially from the female kids. Secondly society has failed, churches/mosques too have failed as all they are interested in is the money being contributed no one asks a young man of today where he gets what he contributes in church. Its very very sad. wish I could be on your panel.

This is sensible and enlighten. I believe some of us are brought up in a decent and Godly way, yet choose the way of destruction. This is.a very informative conversation. Influence can be controlled. That is where the government comes in (if they chose to be disciplined). All that needs to be done is to define the values that are wanted and promoted in the country, then make it into law that companies must use only citizens who have such values as their ambassadors (be it on social media or otherwise). Identify what makes people dabble into the things they do, you will realize just has many of you mentioned, it is caused by poverty. Should citizens be getting financials or other beneficial reward, for behaving positively, then we would a saner, progressive and appreciated society.
