🚨I’ve seen people concerned for me over the “I make 4 figures in the $10,000,000 studio” comment and to be CLEAR that was a joke! I was just surprised by how much podcasts make and wrote that in as a throwaway line. I think most ppl know how absurd the idea is that I could have 2 employees, and a $10,000,000 studio if the channel actually made a few thousand bucks a year, however I wanted to clarify so no one worries about me.🥺 If I ever need money I’ll just sell the flying lambo. We’re good. 🫡

ANYBODY looking at this kind of a deal needs to have an attorney that specializes in Intellectual Property, and contract law. If they don't, they're an idiot. You can ALWAYS have your attorney look over a contract. If the person offering the contact says things like "It's just the standard contract" or "It's just boilerplate" that's a serious red flag. ALL IP contracts should be looked over by an attorney the talent hires before signing. If the media company is unhappy about that, it's likely time to walk away.

It's like those suspects who talk to the police. They don't understand the gravity of the words "anything you say can and will be used against you." Talking to the police will get you nothing, and could lose you everything. At best, something you say could just not be useful. At worst, it could be crucial testimony the prosecution uses to incriminate you. SAY NOTHING. Especially if the detective is Coffeezilla. He will get you.

Funny coz my employer didnt say the reason why he cut down to only some of us. It is against the contract we agreed on so i quit. I wonder if part of it is that some of these folks treated podcasting as kind of a side hustle / supplemental income, and so didn't go after the money as they would if it were their primary income. Listen to that guy who didn't get upset till the payments were six months late. Who in their right mind would wait that long, unless they didn't rely on that money to survive. I'm not saying that justifies stealing, I'm just saying maybe that's what enabled the stealing to get so out of hand.

I don’t know how someone could even pretend moving your house to an LLC would protect you if someone knows your address and they’re feeling threatened. People aren’t vampires who need the LLC to invite them in after the house has changed legal ownership….
@sarttan

Plus in the long run it's just a dumb idea legally. If you use an LLC like it's your personal assets, or to actively hide your assets from legal action, if it's proven, you're potentially opening every business you ever own/work with to be able to be held liable if you're sued, including your personal assets.

@@sarttan that's actually not true. First, that company exists. They advertise specific services. If those services were illegal, just the act of advertising them would be illegal.
