I heard about it on the news. The other bus which i believe was an AD Enviro200MMC had the rear severely damaged as well. I'm relieved to have known that the drivers were unharmed. Shame about the buses though... Hopefully they can be fixed.

the 08 plate is an enviro 400, the 9other bus with the rear end damage is a enviro 400 mmc, the enviro 200 series are single decks

Firstly, I'm pleasantly surprised that with a few banal exceptions, the majority of responses so far on here, are sensible, restrained and even supportive. Secondly, if put in context of just how many bus and tram journeys happen within Greater Manchester happen daily, one bus and tram and one bus and bus incident even within a few weeks, after months if not years of nothing similar occurring, is purely coincidence and shows how relatively safe both modes of transport actually are. Finally, yes, the rear bus doesn't look quite as pretty as it did when it left the depot, agreed. However, all that part is plastic, fibreglass, and glass. The very fact that it can look like that and yet everyone on BOTH buses, including the rear bus's driver were not seriously injured, says everything it needs to say about the impact safety of modern PCVs.

But I'm not laying down any laws on what people can or can not say. 19246 will most likely not be repaired due to it's age, being 16 years old, 11526 is uncertain as it looks like it is in such bad condition, it might be a writeoff

Good video, not wishing to speculate but it does appear that the bus behind was attempting to overtake the bus in front, I could be wrong though. Also, quite a few recent high profile bus related accidents on the Bee Network. TfGM should check journey running times and duties to see if there is enough time given to complete routes and any other underlying issues such as adequate rest periods.

As a former bus driver for Manchester Bee Network I can assure you that journey running times are more than sufficient. You might notice buses stopping at bus stops for no apparent reason. That's to stop running early as running times are so generous.

I hope everyone is ok. But how bus body manufacturers can build busses without more protection at the front end is beyond me. Especially at the top. Collisions with trees and shelters etc are common and there's little protection there on the top corner or for the driver for that matter

The people being hired to drive these buses must be investigated. One bus was driven into the front of a tram recently.

@@jamescollins3647 Investigated for exactly what ? Tram/bus issue was a medical episode which can happen to anyone. Accidents occur due to poor training and poor scheduling, both of which are the responsibility of the bus companies

There's a very high chance of that happening in any city centre I'm afraid. Could it be that one driver was early to a timing point and had to hang about for the right time to pull out or was the other driver late and was in a rush to catch up on time leading to a rear end shunt of the bus in front...who knows?

I knew nothing about this incident but as a passenger it is fairly common these days to hear comments about the poor standard of drivers at Stagecoach. I have myself experienced a few rather alarming occurrences which would not have occurred had the driver been adequately trained.

The state of bus drivers road skills lately is laughable if it wasn’t deadly all too often , I’d hazard a guess that 75% of the steering wheel holders don’t deserve or particularly want to be in that seat - if they aren’t bumping into each other or cars every 5 minutes then they are blasting along too fast in town centres no doubt worrying about keeping to their timetables .

I had a Stagecoach guy pull out on me on a roundabout the other month in Bolton, he failed to give way. I sent the dashcam to Stagecoach, they agreed with me that he was in the wrong, but then got back to me saying the driver had said I sped up, when I didn't, the camera proved that. I was already on the roundabout. They are bullies.
