Were my opinion to be heard, I would suggest that you recruit some colonists, like only a handful. 3 maybe 4. Get a couple of pack animals. They can carry all the gear/loot and construct temp bases and such. The Roleplay of it is certain people decided to travel with Max due to fear/awe/hope and he, being a silent super soldier not used to human interaction, just kinda... Lets them. Mostly ignores them. Maybe eventually a few will become decent shooters and raid with Max. But you have enough food/can get enough food that other people are not going to slow Max down too much. The end goal is very much travel across the world to the ship. YOur side colonists can set up defence turrets and walls and such while Max guns down wave after wave after wave.

This is a super interesting idea! VERY MAD MAX, I'm digging it a lot. Having them build little camps for Max, cook for him, etc.... The wordplay off Mad Max is enough to do it alone, but the thought of this idea reminds me of a word I haven't heard in a very long time. Lord Hum- I mean Max Damage needs some smegma-crazies!

Dont setup a colony. Use the prisoners as throw away fighters, form a caravan and go on your oddessy to the ship. Human baggage will be very useful as canon fodder against stronger bases.

Role playing a drug addict version of 'Don Quixote' would be cool, where he tells everyone he's going to find a space ship and they are all dismissive, except for his sidekick Sancho Panza (Todd Mayo), who has animal handling and tends the donkeys and carries all of Don Quixote's (Max Damage's) stuff. Everybody thinks he's a weirdo loaer so he flies into a rage constantly and attacks everyone. You can maybe pick up a few other weirdos along the way.

I have never done the rocket launch across the planet either, so I would love to see you reach it! Make Max a nomad and just raid for luciferium along the way :) I also thought you could set a goal to have like 100 luciferium in stock before you launch for some roleplay? Because you need to have at least a bit of a stockpile when you land your ship again centuries later! Just some thoughts, loooove this series

This is the one I support the most, it felt like Max landed in pursuit of Luciferium, he went super soldier murdering folks just to search for it, he doesn't seem to care about others, at most he is getting people to have camp helpers on his crusade. So yeah, 100 luciferium, if each lasts a week (and a rimworld year lasts 60 days) would give him a little over 10 years of doses, which should suffice for him to go after other endeavors before having to launch another great crusade for his life

Hardcore idea I haven't really seen anyone else do: either take over or destroy all other factions. Basically go on a power hungry binge and conquest over the entire planet to take out all pirates, raiders, and hostile tribals. If you're up for it, the allied and other factions as well, leaving you as the sole empire faction.

I think sticking to the nomad aspect of this playthrough is really core to the whole luciferium idea. Needing to continue raids and searches to acquire is a lot more interesting than just hunkering down and growing the stuff. It'd be cool to see Max pick up some grunts along the way.

You should put Max on a drug policy where he's prescribed Luciferium once every 7 days, just so you don't have to worry about forgetting to manually force him to take it. It'll also let you tell Max to take a dose of it into his inventory so he's always carrying some.

It might be worthwhile having these colonists as camp followers, find a spot near where you're going to be raiding, have Max's servants set up a camp for some food production, loot storage and medical attention. Then have Max raid out from there until its time to move camp, it'd be pretty easy to wipe out a tribe and have the camp followers build off that foundation.

Btw Consciousness is only for augments/bionics. its a cap. the chips you install cost a constant amount of consciousness (negative debuff). Btw love the work. Consider Downloading a W40k mod? id be interested in seeing your ability in commanding guardsmen. You dealt with an ant colony, you could whip some guardsmen into shape. There is a mod that makes anyone you turn into an astarte into a god. i tried to "stop" someone on a insulting spree (i took after you) and he obliterated the perpetrators head, one punch....... she died. Astartes, where arming them is preferable, for when you dont want to kill someone outright.

I think it would be cool to get a network of small (stolen) bases connected with drop-pods that you either settle or steal from other factions as you travel around the world. Small amount of colonists, while Max gets a ton of pack animals he can take with him to go out looting. Basically, set up a Fast Travel Network all the way to the ship.

Travelling around the world was an experience. Defending the ship was very difficult the times I have tried, not to mention the issues travelling around the world - ambushes, manhunter packs, running low on food so we have to raid people for their stuff, and carrying what we will need to live at the ship. Defending the ship takes a number of days so you'll either need a bed or lots of wakeup

this playthrough reminds me of Sips (yogscast) playing fallout 1 with a lvl 1 intelligence character. throughout the playthrough, he had to horde Mentats so that he could pop them, get +1 INT temporarily, and would then be able to talk to the other NPCs.

I forgot if you had the Locks mod, I think you do. It's works really well with the Prison Labor mod. It makes it so you can designate whether people can open a door or not, or just simply leave a door unlocked so anyone can go through. In *Prison Labor*, the prisoners set to work have to reach the the jobs they can do (workbenches, research table, etc.), with the Locks mod you can unlock their room so they can go do work in the colony, for workbenches they need access to stockpiles, or if you don't want them going out of their room you could build their room into a mountain and have them mine it out, or build a quarry there. Oh, and if you wanna recruit prisoners/tame animals, maybe finding the psychic artifact that lets you force recruit/tame might help.

0:49 about a year late, but it seems like all the extra consciousness does for the character is it will take a bit longer for them to die and be knocked unconscious, because its specifically 30% they are knocked out and 0% is death. so you have an extra 10% of wiggle room to work with before reaching either of those points.

Do what you did here, move to new settlements set up a temp base with minions to make it a supply base with some minor orders and such and then move to the next settlement and take over leaving behind minor set ups each time and then at the end once you're about to fly off inspect each settlement you claimed on the way to see what happened to them.

Just FYI, it doesnt really matter how much armor you have, there is always a chance to have your armor punctured, unless have 100% more armor (as in sharp, blunt or heat armor) then the armor penetration. Thats why Max lost his ear, they just rolled real high.

You should go for the ship. But the thing is it's Max's ship, and everyone he recruits is just there to help him get there. They're meat shields, slaves, and minions to do Max and Horse's bidding. I like the idea of setting up a few temporary bases to do some research while you heal and recruit, but otherwise, make like the mongols and roam!

If you are looking into starting a colony in the really long run with Glittertech you can get some truly absurd things like bodysuits that make you up to like 5x as fast(though make the game lag like hell when used in large amounts) but if only Max had one he would be a beast, not to mention stuff like beta poly made into weapons and armor can be extremely powerful.

I liked the idea of a roaming play instead of a colony. There should be a "drifter" trait that gives a mood buff while away from a colony - just enough to offset (and maybe a little less) positive mood boosts you would get from a colony (ate with table, good bet, good enviro etc). This way you could jusfify making a colony AND be a wandering baddass!

I think taking the caravan around the world sounds really cool. Max will have to travel around for luciferium anyway, always pillaging the next base, so why not just take the whole colony with him? You could make a caravan with some randos and pack animals to take stuff with you, so if you need to settle for a while for some reason it'll be easy to set up a temporary base, and you can befriend one advanced faction to buy good equipment if you need, instead of researching everything to make it from scratch. If you end up deciding to settle down and build your own ship instead, I still think the caravan would be fun to watch in a different playthrough. Then in that case, just imagine building a horde of raiders and go around giving the storyteller their own medicine. That would be really cool.
