I love the non-bloom tray! I was also wondering if you could make blooms in coasters and then put them into the tray. Pour a base layer of the silver, let it cure and arrange the coaster blooms on top of the silver, then fill with clear to finish it.

Michelle the salvage piece was pretty even if it wasn't correct for the project I would use your casting resing let it get to temp of 32c & pipe your lines a little thicker not to thick by doing this in this big tray they have a chance ti spread Also I knew you were going to have blobs at your starting points those should be addressed before you start creating your bloom. Don't be so hard on yourself you do great work definitely have more patience than me

Your centre is getting too hot and curing before it has an opportunity to bloom. Try your casting resin and pour at 30°C so it has more time to heat and bloom.

Since you are using a 4hr fast cure your resin is getting too hot and it stops moving.. try breaking it up into several cups so it doesn't heat up so fast..😊

@glitznglitterbymichelle1 I have watched all attempts plus the coasters. I know that most Fast cure resin cannot be poured more than 150ml or around this quantity as the thermal reaction is faster than normal. That's why I'm suggesting a casting resin as some can be poured above 150ml. I don't use Let's Resin as it's hard to get here I don't think it's a change in formula.

In one of Julie's (pouring your heart out) videos not too far back, she said that she doesn't wait to decant the fast cure because it's already thick. The reason you would wait until 36-39 degrees is because you're waiting for the resin to thicken up so your white and colors don't just fall through. So, I think you're letting the fast cure get too hot/curing too much before pouring it and so it's not gonna move as much. Hope that helps. 😁💖

Oh Michelle! What a trial and tribulation for you with this project?! I’m sorry you couldn’t get it to work. I think @samanthacunningham2802 could be right about the temperature. The width has much further to move but if it’s already at temperature then it’s thickening up and the only part that is able to move is the area that has a shorter space to move, although I would have expected the outer edges of the sideways petals to at least bloom somewhat if that’s the case. Hmmm… it’s definitely a conundrum for the future, and it’s not like you can be doing loads of trials when you have such a large amount of resin in play because it’s not cost effective, although, I’m sure there’s a way you could cover costs in your eBay store, if you do different colours. I’m always looking forward to seeing your latest video though, no matter how it turns out. And the longer the better for me, plus as many extras as possible, although I’m gutted I can’t buy them from the UK. 😊😊😊

essentially, it looks like its curing too fast for the bloom. resin usually cures from top to bottom at its thickest point, so the center set first. maybe don't wait so long.. dont let it get past 30 degrees before you start. or if its faulty resin, use your casting resin or the epoxy (whichever is thickest) and do the bloom with more but thinner lines.

What about doing several smaller blooms in coasters and then sinking them into the tray? Then, it would look more like the fabric with having several small ones. I'm just thinking out loud. I just think the tray is too big. The bloom is too large also. I applaud you not giving up, though. Resin just has a mind of its own. Have a blessed day 🙏 ❤
@Ali-H3444
@Ali-H3444 Ай бұрын
Pour your background color in the tray. Let it cure halfway or sticky. Make as many blooms you want in coaster molds, then fully cure them. Add the coaster blooms on top of the background. Add clear on top. The coaster edges should disappear. Doing it this way will allow you to check for bubbles. You can also add the handles at this point. It'll save you from drilling. I hope this makes sense 😊❤

Just a suggestion , not sure it would work though, how about do the resin in stages it might take longer. Make thin layers add the white and your other colours wait for the bloom to start spreading add the next layer etc and continue until you have the full bloom affect. I have never had a successful big bloom but have given it some thought. I wouldn't use fast cure either ,24 hour cure I would use. Maybe thicker lines not thin

Hi Michelle, I have a couple of thoughts on this. From my own experiences what I think is happening is that the resin is cooling and contracting the surface super fast after pouring, you could be losing the blooming opportunity whilst you are mixing your colors. Also, if you look at the areas that it has bloomed, they measure the same on all 4 sides. The resin on the larger sides has to pull in a lot further than the narrow sides which could be more difficult without using a heat gun to try and encourage the contraction more. Also, what is your resin temperature pre mixing?
@daniel..cooper
@daniel..cooper 24 күн бұрын
What I always do is keep my resin in the big cup to retain its heat (but keep an eye on temperature) I usually mix my pigment a few minutes before I predict my main resin temp hitting the required temps, I find blooms work much better that way.
@glitznglitterbymichelle1
@glitznglitterbymichelle1 24 күн бұрын
The weird thing about this one is I have done a successful one in the past in this exact mold. That's why I'm so puzzled about it. I poured my fast cure at 33C and then on the 4th try I used regular epoxy and poured it even hotter than that! The fourth try I used my heat gun to help it but it still blobbed. I'm afraid to keep wasting 20 oz at a time just to figure this thing out but it's bugging me LOL. Thanks for your input, you have more experience than I do so it's much appreciated! My house is a constant 77F that's what my pre mixing temp is.

@glitznglitterbymichelle Michelle, I hope you see this, even though it's 11 days later! Here's a possible answer to the problem... I hope! I first put this comment on ResinMeUp's video, as she was trying to help solve this crazy problem. ~~~ I do know EVERY rectangle shape used for blooms does much the same really weird thing with any bloom. Even on the small trinket trays, blooms just look...weird. It's just that on large rect. mold shapes, the effect is greatly exaggerated. I believe SHAPE is the key. I truly do not think it has very much to do with consistent heat, unless the various areas are wildly different from each other. * There IS a possible solution I thought of while watching. I noticed that square shapes will provide a consistent bloom, just as do round, or any symmetrical shape. Therefore, if the two short sides of any rectangle were blocked off with something (clay?) to create a SQUARE (or even a round) shape inside the rectangle where the bloom was to be created (top, bottom, or middle), the results should be a perfect bloom.

I think I will try this on a round tray like she did, plus her tray was much smaller than my rectangular mold I used. She also used a different resin so I'm not sure I can compare the two. I'm thinking it's the shape as well, but what stumps me is I did this exact same mold before and it worked!!

I don't work with the fast cure so I don't know if I am correct but I am wondering if the resin is setting too quickly for the bloom to finish. With the size of the tray and having to wait for the temp to come up I'm thinking the time for the resin to move is cut way down. Also, maybe the petal lines need to be a bit thicker? Do you think this could be a possibility? I always love your end results. Great save!

I have *never* seen this crazy effect...not *ever,* and I've been involved with resin, especially blooms, for years. Maybe it IS a bad batch? I mean, you've done pretty much everything right... Oy, I'm so sorry! I do think your lines were much too thin for such a large flower. Thin lines simply won't bloom properly unless they're quite small flowers. But that's all I can think of. I feel that if you done the normal bloom times 3 with less stuff going on for the bloom it would work instantly. The geode is pretty though.
