I think I get it though… it’s the same type of comment Ru makes when there’s a makeover challenge with someone that’s very muscular with broad shoulders, for ex, and it’s in their interest to try to hide it, to convey femininity. Athena is not muscular but she’s definitely got a very masculine body, it’s different from Naomi Smalls for example that looks super feminine even when she doesn’t wear padding.

The sad thing is, if they did it right, the Global All Stars promos could have been incredible. I mean, yes, have Alyssa Edwards in NYC, a city with some of the more iconic American imagery, but give us each of the queens in a similar type of photo shoot in the most iconic places in their country. They could have given us Qween Kong in front of the Sydney Opera House, Vanity Vain in the Ice Hotel or Avicii Arena. Just, give me queens representing their countries IN their countries, maybe in outfits themed to their country flags or something like the Hometown runways from DRUK.

I love Miranda, but be real. Only her first look was great. The second look was so comical and colorful that had nothing to do with she-vil villain and the garment she made was not flattering and ill fitting. I think she’s a good contender to win/ reach the finale from a production standpoint because she comes from a well known place and English speaking franchise, but helps them beat the “you always favor American and native English speaker’ allegations (and pythia is neither). Which doesn’t discredit how amazing she is- I wanted her to win her original season- but based on how the season is shaping up to ignore half the cast I think she will be getting some of that production favoritism even though ru hasn’t judged her before.

I can see it going to Alyssa, but we ALSO just saw roxxxy get an edit of being this talented glamazon who overcame her previous shortcomings, just to get second place. Maybe producers have caught on to that the favorite queen to win getting snubbed benefits them in the buzz it generates online, and in that the queen gets surrounded by love instead of claims of favoritism (which, there usually is favoritism within the top 4/2 but people only seem to have issues with it if it causes someone to win?)

The placement for Miranda was so so SOOOOOO WRONG that, as a Brazilian, it hurt me to see. Just for reference, Miranda's second look was inspired (i believe) by the brasilian wood sculptures named "Carrancas" (I don't think you will have a name for it in English) witch are these anthropomorphic creatures, blending human and animal features to create a very unsettling and scary figure know to protect (especially Brazilian sailors and households) from evil spirits and negative energy in general. Since they are sculpted in wood there color palette is mainly brown , earthy and red tones; So the colorful/psycodelic aspect was Miranda and Sinistra (the designer) spin on it.

Began the episode with my partner and I discussing what an amazing season it is so far, one of the best we've seen in awhile after just two episodes, and how much we enjoy each of these queens. Listen…it’s not that hard to decipher exactly what’s going on here. Production’s “job” (so they like to think) is to procure a storyline that is going to resonate with the largest section of the show’s audience so that once the coronation finally occurs, the majority will be on board with their decision and likely tune in to the next season that is proffered by the company. With this Global All Stars situation, they know exactly who tuned in to the girls’ original seasons and, more importantly, how many. So their simpleton strategy - in my estimation - is to keep the girls with the largest viewerships until the end and then maybe consider some countenance into the actual competition to ultimately calculate the crowning. Badda bing badda boom, and we have yet another example of the corporate capitalization that will forevermore continue to decide the winner of the “Drag Olympics”. Tatianna was right…what you see surely *isn’t* always the truth.

Earlier this year Paramount+ cancelled all of the Colombia-based franchises (Germany, Mexico, Brazil). It is probably the same with Global All Stars - it is basically already a cancelled show airing, with next to no promo because of that. Alissa is already in the US, so it's cheap to make her do the promo - everyone else is away and costly.

Yeah, I believe WOW is just waiting for contracts to run their time and I hear their aim is to rescue all productions that were not 100% under them initially, i.e.Italia, Germany, México & Brasil, since they will air exclusively on their platform now too. They have not been cancelled as much as Paramount stopped doing their job as a distributor, but WOW is still the production company. Interestingly enough, they can still use the Colombia studios because they can simply rent them out.

Miranda's second look I think (I'm brazilian too, so I can relate to an extent to her references) is made to be up to interpretation but there are some pivotal POV: cartoon villains (like Wacky Races vibes), Sítio do Pica-Pau Amarelo (the cloth doll and alligator witch reference) and mostly Bate Bola (google "bate bola carnaval" so you can get images), which is a form of celebrating Carnival, in a way, but its roots are said to be protests against police injustice, so they are deliberately designed as scary and loud costumes (the meaning of "bate bola" is kinda lost in translation, but is something like "ball smashing", because they throw the ball real hard into the ground to make a loud noise, but it can also mean "playing ball").

Miranda in the bottom was WILD, she should've been top3 at least, maybe top2 cause Alyssa's 3rd look lacked concept... kitty getting a free pass for what she showed left a bitter taste for me... as much as I love her and she's made of charisma, she should've been bottom2... so yeah, favoritism and unfairness will be the rule of the game unfortunately...

Its weird that Drag Race isn't advertising global at all, but neither is more independent sources. I don't believe Willam and Alaska are doing reviews on it (theyre doing allstars 2 instead), I don't think Bob and Mo are doing a review (unless it's on their patreon), Naomi isn't doing a review for the runway, Yuhua doesn't seem to be doing it, etc. *(I know they all got other shit to be doing it's not their obligation, just observation) It just seems no one gives a shit UNLESS it is fully american and idk why im not surprised

I'm pretty much feeling the same way. The production is just pretty transparent and I feel like I know exactly who's gonna make it to the end. So sad to see Athena go... In my opinion she was definetly safe. Thank you for being outspoken about all the issues we're seeing in the season! I do hope in future seasons they stop controling so much the narrative and just let thing unfold more naturally and then work with that...

Honestly, if it's a Global All Stars Season, then why can't we have the hosts of the various global franchises ( Fred, Supremme, Brooke Lynn, Nicky Doll, Pangina, Etc..) sit on the Judging Panel alongside RuPaul instead of Michelle and Jamal? Nothing against them, but a Global competition should be judged by global Judges.

I know people have been saying that Alyssa's been over praised already, but I feel like she's truly been delivering praise worthy stuff so far. If anything, I feel like Kitty is the one getting free passes already. I can already tell that this is probably going to be a Canada Season 1 situation where I love the season for it's cast but completely disagree with 99% of the judging decisions lol

Yeah she's not being over praised. But it is the Alyssa meet and greet nonetheless. I think people would have fewer issues if Alyssa wasn't the only one getting promos by the studio. I do love Alyssa so much though, she's my all time favourite queen. But I don't think she needs to win a crown. She's amazing enough she doesn't need the external validation to feel complete imo. I am hoping she's a finalist but in her final interview with Ru she basically says what Cheddar Gorgeous did which was that she's established enough she doesn't need to win. And so then Ru crowns someone else but Alyssa is The Star and fan fave.

I think RuPaul tearing up over seeing Alyssa set up the idea that she is the "default winner" (I hate that term, btw as it totally undermines Alyssa's talent.) We've already had the complaint of Alyssa doing whatever she wants and getting away with it due to her Alyssaism on season 5 and AS 2 but this just seems worse.

When I saw Alyssa’s final look I thought “they’re gonna put her in the bottom, this is so bad.” Her second look was phenomenal, though. The whole judging was off. I feel like we can appreciate Alyssa but also recognize when she doesn’t do a good job. At best she should have been safe. Girl. I really hope this season gets better, because there is SO MUCH TALENT and it is not being displayed well. Miranda’s looks were some of the best of the night, what on earth were they on.

Her third look wasn't that bad. It was better than several others' third looks who were safe (Kitty and Tessa come to mind) so her first two looks definitely carried her to the top but rightfully she didn't win. But I think Ru called out the evolution in her taste level because she did have bad taste in the past and now she does have a better understanding of what suits her.

See I absolutely adore Miranda but I thought her second look was totally out of place and didn’t fit the category as it was so colorful and cartoonish and not really a she-vil villain (maybe it’s a Brazilian reference we don’t understand, but that’s not the judges fault for not knowing every reference as it would be impossible unless they ask the queens beforehand). I also thought her third look wasn’t very flattering on her. But I still think she was much better than Kitty, Kween, Eva, and Nehelenia. While I disagree that she should’ve been in the top, I completely agree that she should’ve never been in the bottom. It was such a weird judging this episode as all the queens I thought would be in the bottom were safe. At least Pythia won as she was clearly the best of the night.

Exactly, when I saw Alyssa's third look, I thought it would put her safe at best due to her other two good looks, or drag her down to bottom based on the higher weight of judging on the third looks. Then I saw she wasn't safe, and said, "Yea, I can see a bottom placement for that dress. It looks so cheap and sloppy to me." What am I missing? Even bussy gave it an OK score. I can't see it.

I think we have to be real and admit that Alyssa’s drag has been justifiably in the top two both weeks. And this week’s winner was from Canada, which Ru doesn’t host. Same with last week. A Ru-hosted girl has only won once so far in three episodes.

It’s obvious which Queens have unlimited resources and finances for their fashion, which gives them a huge advantage over Queens from poorer countries. An obvious advantage. Each Queen should be given a specific budget to stay within for their fashion. I know it would be hard to “police” but something needs to be done to keep a level competition field. It’s obvious they don’t want Alisa in the bottom. I wasn’t impressed with the dress she made at all.

Fun fact: I heard that the original idea for Drag Race was for it to be a drag version of Project Runway, where each queen would bring 1 designer friend. The queens and their designer friends would have been tasked to create a new outfit each episode. How's that for evening out the playing field? 😋😋

[EDIT] Now that I've gone back to look at the Ball episode, I still agree that Kitty, Nehellenia, and Soa needed to be in the bottom, but I also think Kween, Eva, and Vanity also needed to be in the bottom. Kween's first look although the pieces gave the illusion of a coat was really neat, it did not give boss lady. It gave a hip hop rap artist hooker look, something like Vanjie would wear but needed to be a little more elevated, her second look did not give evil villain, and her design outfit although the color along with the fabric choice was pretty. I did not like the top part, it made her look disproportionate and frumpy. Eva's looks were mid, I don't know what she was doing with her evil villain look, but what she wore in her entrance look on her season gave an evil villain. That being said, I still hope the later episodes rectify the experience the international girls went through, I do hope they at least had fun with the other girls and made new sisters.

I LOVE Alyssa, she was beautiful, but she brought that beautiful corset, beautiful wig, stunning make up, gorgeus shoes. The rest was a fabric around her waist and going over her sholder. Some other queens (including Tessa, who was a mess) apply more effort in her look than Alyssa. Many things wasn't taking in considerarion for the judges this week.
