I think part of it was that they knew she was one of the queens with better English in the cast (So it would be easier to edit her confessionals, hence why Kitty, Alyssa and Kween have so many) and also a good lip syncer. By giving her a win early on (I don't think that it was undeserved, just highly contested and I can see why people disagree with it even if I thought it checked out), it does two things: A) She gets to lip sync right away and win a lip sync. B) It gives her reason to stay over some other competitors when they throw her in the bottom explicitly to just get her get rid of others, since she has a win. Basically they Tayce/Vanity/Black Peppa'd her (Down to "First bottom placement in third episode" and "Second bottom placement in Snatch Game" for the Black Peppa parallels), except instead of it being a black queen this time, it's an ESL queen. I'd only be shocked with this happening if it was a white queen whose first language was English tbh. I think Vanity has that star power the show needs and it really sucks to see her being sandbagged by the weird placements they're giving her that just put her in her head.

I’ve been watching the show since season 1. The difference is that the editing then was actually good and they showed the queens on an even playing field when it came to shade and arguments. It's not the same tho. The Roxxxy joke is funny especially cause it cuts deep and references her darkest trauma and the moment that made her the most personable in her season while also "stereotyping" her in a way. It's a fine line between tragedy and comedy. The taco joke is objectifying in the way that it suggests that Gala isn't seen as an individual at all but rather as a part of a stereotyped collective and not worthy of investigating deeper into her humanity.

This is why queens need to not only hire designers for their looks, but hire comedy coaches to enhance their character and give them funny lines to say. Queens should KNOW 80% of what they're going to say beforehand.
