things to know about shotguns: -you do not make any noise when reloading -you can cancel your reload by shooting so basically u should always reload when u have cleared an area

Kind of late answer. But this isnt actually true. If you use “+reload” in command you cant shoot for a few milliseconds after starting the reload of the XM1014. This is probably done intentionally to prevent the powerful auto reloads Team Fortress 2 has.

As someone who only uses the XM, keep that thing loaded at all times. They've also patched the jumpshot with shotguns, unless they're really low hp. One thing about using an XM is once you start tilting the other team, they'll use XM's and that's when they lose. Last thing, I swear the other team was being carried, ez frags. GG

A shotgun round is called a "shell", gauge refers to weight, in fractions of a pound, of a pure lead round ball that is the same diameter as the internal diameter of the barrel. So a 12 gauge shotgun means 12 lead balls the size of the internal diameter of the barrel weighs 1 pound. The number of pellets will vary from shell to shell, and technically has no relation to the gauge of the shotgun.
