Went three seasons 84', 86', 87', either late April or early May. The first trip, in 84' this area had just been found, and I surfed Lakey quite a few times all alone macking, it was like a dream. And all of those early trips not more than 6-8 out at any time. Funny it seems most guys that I saw there in the 80s were there to surf Periscopes and would always head there in the morning. So Lakey was nearly empty. No locals surfed in those days. I would spend 2 months in Indonesia each of those trips and one of those months at Lakey. I did my two last trips to Lakey in 91' and 92', and by then it was pretty packed out at the peak, but in a months' time you could get in a few sessions not too crowded. But it sure wasn't like it was in the 80s, especially 84' and 87'

Wow, real chunky slabs! The right hander reminds me of a "mini Back Door", sick vid man. Some good skills on show from the locals too!

It's literally like a mini pipe/backdoor setup over here. Gets pretty heavy out there too!

Mad barrel on the right, but it looks like it gets very shallow on the end section. Great editing and drone work mate 🍺

Thanks mate 👍 The right definitely gets too shallow on the lower tide, but the left stays surfable. Shame the wind came and ruined it!
