What you did not see nor feel was the truly bad state of the roads on that course. I rode them for real. They were bad. I saw a khazak jr wipe it on a round about. Lucky that the camera crew were not following him. The rain water on the ground was mixed with his blood after he slammed into a curb by a ferociously bumpy, wet, round about. He did not get up right away. I ran over with my first aid thinking it was another casartelli scenario. There were no haybales on that round about.

While the Dales and the Moors are the big draws of Yorkshire cycling, don’t forget the Wolds: lovely rolling hills, super smooth roads and virtually no traffic.
@enveenvy84435 жыл бұрын
I rode from Devon to the Yorkshire Dales with my Bicycle to see the worlds. My garmin decided that i needed to pass through the cotswolds. Talk about hell on earth. Up one brutally steep climb. Crest the top. Descend into the valley. Rinse and repeat. I only managed 60 miles that day on my way up. All other days it was 100 miles. While Yorkshire does have its fair share of brutally steep climbs i rate the "wolds" far worse to be honest. And you are right about the state of the roads there. If indeed you are referrign to the cotswolds. Super smooth. And virtually no traffic.
@nstrug5 жыл бұрын

I am very glad to see that Yorkshire has become such a cycle rich area - that be grand! The thing is, when I was growing up there ('73-'93) I don't remember it being so. Yes, people cycled in the area and I often would cycle around the neighbouring villages in the area, but I don't ever remember cafes for cyclists and loads of people in lycra. I remember almost being killed by cars speeding round blind corners with high hedgerows and getting stuck behind tractors. I did the odd 'fun run' on a bike but don't ever remember so much excitement for the sport. Maybe it just passed me by!??!!!
@Undadawg875 жыл бұрын
eilrach299 maybe so but things have certainly changed since. One example: a casual ride around Hope Valley in the Peak District and you will definitely see plenty of other riders, particularly on a bank holiday. After your ride, you then check Strava (because you have to) to discover that 10,000 other riders have also ridden those segments. Good luck getting a KOM.
