I do shotokan every week. Ive been doing karate for 2 and a half years and I am on my brown belt. (The belt order is different for each dojo) im currently learning bassai dai and it’s taken me almost 9 months to learn. It’s honestly crazy. I love karate and it helps me control my anger and negative emotions in general. It’s so much fun, my sensei is great and I’m hoping I can grade next grading in December.

Bassai dai to breach the fortress Still one of my favorite katas. If you execute this with the State of mind of power confidence than nothing can break you because you are a indestructible then I’m sure you can master this. I believe it’s also important to synchronize such power with your breathing. One compliments the other. Osu

I got my first belt in Shotokan back in 1988 when i was 34. I hadn’t been to a Shotokhan dojo since. Then i watched Cobra Kai and i was reminded that i wanted to see if ShotoKan was on youtube. So here i am, 67 years old and still love karate. I know i cant be what i once was, pretty limber & agile, but it could help me get a little exercise. I cant compete, but it cant hurt.

I got bullied for years and I just couldn't defend myself. After watching some Domics and Detective Conan videos, I decided to start learn a martial art. At the first thought I was like "This fits really good for me, I hope I can learn it quick". After watching all of these videos 6 times a day and every videos for 10 days (so basically I watched 60 times 1 video) I started to understand something about martial arts. Then I started to learn taekwondo and Krav Maga on this channel too. I started to watch these videos 1 year ago and now I can defend myself from the bullies, it's like I became the tough one, so they stopped to bother me. I'm writing this comment to thank you very much, Global Martial Arts University, you changed my life and now I feel really safe with all of these martial arts as my potential defenses. Thank you very much and I hope your channel will grow and become worldwide known by everyone 😊😀

Not as many "karate experts" as I expected in the comments section, I'm impressed! It's been a while since I've seen a genuine tutorial that's realistic and not entirely about "just do this until you're able to do it like me" or "do 50 of these a day" or whatever.

I took Shotokan Karate for over 40 yrs and it's very hard training. My Sensei Kasaka was straight from Japan, and very strict. If you join a Dojo it will be more beneficial if you are very serious about training. This is a good way to learn the basics here, and you can go at your own pace. Good luck everyone.

Never let your accident be your excuse. Look at Bethany Hamilton. She lost her whole arm from a shark attack during her surfing. For a while she believed she can’t do it anymore, but after a while she figured out some ways to help her handle the waves with one arm. Lots of practice and extra work helped her to become the best surfer. There was another person who lost his ability to walk, due to sky diving. For a while he was wheelchair bound. He decided to reteach himself to walk again. After many months and possibly a few years, he was able to jog and run in the fields again. If people like the ones i listed above can achieve, you can too. You just need to find another away around your obstacles. You can do it. Just stop making excuses that you can’t, because you will make it that you can’t do it. “There is no try, there is only do”. That is what my sensei always tell us. Just because you got in an accident, shouldn’t control your life. You decide for yourself on how you want to fight pass the incident. Believe in yourself and you can do everything. Ot may be extra work, but with dedication you can remember every move. Looking at your profile, you look like a healthy young man. If you practice more, you can get back into Karate. You just have to do it a little differently than what other people do.
