VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq first to achieve 5 stars in Global NCAP’s updated crash tests

The first round of results under Global NCAP’s more demanding crash test requirements for India were published today with the Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq scoring top star ratings for adult and child occupant safety.
The Taigun and Kushaq are twin models sharing the same platform and produced in the same plant. The models achieved five stars for adult and five stars for child occupant protection becoming the first models ever to achieve five stars for both adults and children.

Creta and seltos combined are safer than kushaq or taigun. Creta(3⭐) and seltos(3⭐) have combined 6 ⭐. Also creta has panoramic sunroof where you can look to the skies and pray better in case of an accident.

We booked a Taigun Comfortline last week and getting it delivered in next couple of days. As a previous VW owner, we were expecting them to come around 4 stars while we were looking for our next new car, but 5 star ratings in both domains has doubled our satisfaction of sticking to VW and its safety priority for cars in India. We can just sincerely hope that all major car manufacturers continue to set the bar high with safety, and also kudos to concerned automotive enthusiasts and community for raising voice for making safety a priority before anything else, something which we Indians have ignored for long time.

That's coz GNCAP is a non-profit organisation. EuroNCAP usually sells the data they collect. GNCAP also tests for other countries. So while it's slower, there are reasons for that. While I agree that tests should be more frequent, it's not as simple as we think

No surprise, it was expected. I purchased VW Taigun 5 months back. I was sure that it will score 5 stars. We can feel the safety when we drive it.We all indians to keep in mind that combined sales of VW and Skoda in September is hardly 7500 units. Where Maruti suzuki is 1.4 lakh and Hyundai 49000, and for Kia 25000.

All this star rating was tested only between 64km to 70km. No one should forget that. What if you hit something at a speed of 120km/h or 150km/h with this kind of star rating in your mind? Or if any other vehicle comes at the same high speed and hits your 5 star car, you will be scattered on the road mind it. Want to travel without an accident? It doesn't need any of these star ratings😏 Not only you and me but all the motorists of our country if they drive at a moderate speed then accidents will not happen. Here in Delhi, VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq cost approx 22 lacs.....whereas Tata Nexon(Petrol) costs 14 lacs...... Since these two are competitors in no way but coming to the part of safety,there is not a huge difference between them.I have seen many bad accidents of Nexon in real time and the car does the job well. Speaking truthfully, I believe giving safety in a 22 lacs vehicle is different and giving almost the same safety in a 14 lacs car is a completely different thing. Also,In terms of interior fit and finish,cabin space,features, insulation,after sales and peace of mind, VW and Skoda need to meliorate and stop increasing their prices.......There is a reason people waiting months to get XUV700,Astor,Scorpio N;and Nexon topping the sales charts.There is a reason why so many people are investing their hard earned money on them...... Not a fanboy of TATA or a hater of VW.......Just said what I felt... Kudos to VW and Skoda

You are talking about automatic and montecarlo edition.comparing to 4225 length and 3995 length you will get more space inside and it is the longest wheelbase in the segment which means more usable space and legroom. And nexon don't have multi collision braking, tpms,height adjustment driver seat. All three rear seatbelt and head rest,Traction control on off button.differential braking,driver hand rest,steering control, Android Auto and Apple car play, boot light in base variant and auto idle on off. This one has 178 nm torque with a great driving dynamics which is missing in nexon I took test drive of all vehicles while buying. Base variant of kushaq is well packed and you can't call it base variant when you compare with other manufacturers. Yes you did mentioned both are different category but for the price you pay it is ok. One thing kushaq interior quality can be increased in kushaq.

MG Astor has set the benchmark of build quality and pricing which other brands need to learn.... Also speaking of driving dynamics not everyone is a enthusiast like you and me.VW and skoda have miles to go

Watch video fully. Only for pole test they took top model with six airbag. In all variants of kushaq and taigun all safety features are same. I own a base model I have all safety features. Unlike other brands include esc in upper variants.

Hey bro you too a honda fan right! I'm too. I remember you from some channels where we replied to each other. I'm much proud of vag now, even though reducing the quality of newer vag cars compared to the older ones. I'm pretty much liking vag now too for never comprising in any matters of safety and build quality as those koreans and vw and skoda was also very responsive and was pretty much handling the situation well when problems occured in the new platform. They pretty much sorted out all the issues and they are as reliable as any other compact crossovers available now, dsg gearbox is much better and good with reliability now and safer with warranty offered. All of the cars you mentioned, no need to worry about the build quality as you take the MG cars they are pretty much the same quality of cars sold globally with same build quality. Honda no need to question. Mahindra too no doubt, I don't trust Hyundai anymore for their cheap business in India nor Suzuki. I'm getting angry on Toyota for collab with Suzuki, Suzuki drastically reduced their quality of cars every facelift. Toyota can sell their own cars instead of rebadging and bring smaller displacement engines so can be the best cars still and introduce more cars and update their cars on time instead of worrying about fortuner and innova only. Wish to see more cars like corolla, yaris, rav-4 and many on indian streets. Then definitely would be in the market for one for sure.

@@ZLone93256 Hello bro..Im not a VW hater Infact I like VW's built quality,safety, driving pleasure But because of some toxic vw fankids..I had to reply them because they were making fun of honda cars which they don't deserve.. Even Honda cars are also much safer, underrated and deserve more sales.. Few days ago,I saw slavia in showroom and I fallen love with this car..looks good, built quality, interiors are also good.. So No hate to any car and will try to avoid some toxic fankids Talking about MG cars,yes there are exactly same as European version..Even I noticed mg hector's built quality is better than tata harrier Tata, mahindra,honda,VW,Skoda,nissan etc are only some manufacturers that r providing safer cars in india

@@SLSROCKY111 yes bro im not a hater of any brand. I just like to have good driving dynamic and reliability and overall quality at the same time. That's what honda does so i became a fan of the city! I know most of vw fanbois are toxic. I still remember the names I argued with and on what channels too. Even we are also enthusiasts that doesn't mean going crazy over only one product and defaming others. I respect the germans and japanese brands more now. But I have found lot of toxic fans of jdm too. So I don't argue much. I too love vag cars as much as Toyota or honda but when it comes to overall quality Japanese are better that's what we try to say but few cannot except it. Anyway vag 2.0 cars has grown on me now, I'm pretty sure the slavia and virtus would score 5 too.

The variant used in this crash test is the top variant with 6 airbags. Can be seen at 1:30. Crash tests of other cars have the description of the variant used - for example, Mahindra Scorpio-N crash test has the description on airbags and variant, but the description of these 2 cars have no such information. Why?
