Wow. And he didn't dance on her grave as some have said. There are issues, major ones, and he wants to deal with them and the day off is just another day when the issues are not addressed. Two of his points are so very enlightened: the selling off of the the utilities and the agencies, each one brings layers of 'management' skimming the cream off the finite supply of money in the pot; two examples of Robin Hood in reverse. We need more like him but sadly his time has passed and we are now run by the same old same of professional politicians. How very sad it has all become.

RBS Banker's are to rake in £500 million in bonuses, while some workers are on poverty bloody wages. The UK's Chief Medical Officer in a damning report this year said we have the return of the VICTORIAN-ERA RICKETS. It also stated the country should be 'PROFOUNDLY ASHAMED' that the child mortality rate in the poorest parts of this country are 3 TIMES higher than in rich regions. But some of you are'nt ashamed. You voted for rickets, poverty wages for some and the desperation of food banks. You voted to kill the disadvantaged and poor off. What did you evolve from.

harrynking777 What victory are you talking about? Child poverty, the bedroom tax, a million people using food banks, fuel poverty, food poverty, rent caps that see families on the street. The rise in homelessness, a PM and chancellor that burnt £50 notes in front of the homeless during their Bullingdon club days. You only got into power because 2 million non Tories voted for them at the last minute to prevent the SNP going into coalition. Did you see the ring of iron fences at the Tory party conference, I've never seen anything like that before. The writing is on the wall for a repeat of 1981. There's going to be political violence on the streets of Britain. You're too stupid and arrogant to see the unrest amongst ordinary people. What was the latest gimmick by Cameron at the Tory party conference, he's going to end poverty? The deluded arsehole is going to slash tax credits and end free school meals for the under sevens? People can see through his sick claim and are getting more wound up with him, his party, and it's policies.

You're right and look at the mess we are now in. Not just with those industries you've mentioned but in my constituency of Aberavon we are at the mercy of a foreign company who has our steel industry in their hands and they want rid of it because we cannot compete with China. Quality wise our steel is superior but money wise we are WAY out. The workers keep getting told to hit higher targets and every year they work to the bone and do it but it still won't be enough, it is shameful that we can bail out the banks who got us into such a huge mess without a thought but when it comes to the likes of steel workers the government won't do it. Shameful and sadly I think it will only get worse.

He's right in what he is saying. Sadly on two occasions in different jobs a member of staff on my team has passed away. One passed as they were involved in a car accident coming into work and they were pronounced dead at the scene, my manager took the call then took the 20 of us on the team into a room and told us and then said management had agreed to let us all go home for the day as it was such a shock and we were all very upset. We were given 'special leave' for her funeral and as such had a full day off so we could attend the service and the wake afterwards, this happened whilst working in the private sector. When I was a civil servant a lady who was a stalwart on the team and who had worked in the civil service for 30 odd years went downstairs to get a coffee, an hour later we were taken into a room and told she had suffered a heart attack and had been taken to hospital but she had been pronounced dead pretty much on arrival. I had not been on the team long so whilst upset and shocked I wasn't too bad but there were several members of the 25 member team who were devastated as they had known this lady for 30 years and were close to her but they were told to 'get back to work, you're not family so you don't need time off'. That was until the union got involved and managed to negotiate for said people to go home and a few others whilst some of us agreed to stay. Then we were told we could not all go to the funeral because it was unacceptable for the department to be empty for an hour whilst we attended (the crematorium morbidly is literally next door to where we worked) and again, that had to be negotiated for us to all go as we felt we all should but on the basis that at least 15 of us come back. And those orders had come from the very top originally as the higher ups originally, yet these folk who are also civil servants really can pretty much do as they please without giving a crap.
