@g7usl The bypass pin takes the steering control away from the captain. This allows the pushback to steer the plane to the line without breaking the steering on the airplane. Hope this helped

That was the most casual disconnect I've ever seen lol

Thanks! Yes we still do most of the grooming. We have some cabin cleaning crew now but not enough to do it all. So they just do J-class and the lavs. Then they help us with the economy cabin once they're done.

I miss the good old days .... I was a line maintenance technician and we were the ones doing all the ground proceedings, arrival, preflight and departure maneuvers. Nowadays is ramp guys who do it, having a mechanic doing all this gave pilots a sense of more security as we knew the aircraft like the back of our hands.

Awesome POV video! Isd the yellow cord direct line to the cockpit? What do you guys talk about before/after push- back?
@GlobetrekkerYYC8 жыл бұрын
Yes the yellow cord is a communication line to the flight deck. We communicate about clearance for push, setting or releasing aircraft brakes, when it's clear to start engines etc.

What ground handling company? I worked with Swissport at YYZ for a month and I hated my life, it the most unorganized and uncaring company you could work with. It was a complete clusterfruck. As much as I love airplanes (I fucking love them), I couldn't last more than a month before I quit. I got to work on B777s, B787s, A380s, and all the common narrow bodies, I loved the planes but the company was absolute shit, my plan was to wait it out till I get my full RAIC then jump ship to Air Canada handling but like I said, Swissport is so shit that I absolutely had to quit. I'm gonna miss all the planes :'(

I work for Air Canada. My ramp career followed a similar path that you had planned. I worked for ATS first, then used that experience to help me get on at AC when they started hiring. Hopefully you can get on in the future! Cheers.
@TheTurbinator8 жыл бұрын
Here at YYZ there are only 3 ground handling companies left. Air Canada, Swissport (they swallowed up ATS, Handlex, and Servisair), and Menzies Aviation (new to YYZ, they only handle Westjet). My plan now is to head on over to Menzies and stay with them for as long as it takes to get a RAIC, D AVOP, and a restricted radio licence, then look for openings in Air Canada.

charlie lange Imagine loss of GPS signal at an inopportune time....... Whats the fuckin difference..... You could use 2 tin cans and a piece of string you stooge
@anonymousaubergine44558 жыл бұрын
The fuckin difference is that an aircraft has 3 INDEPENDENT Air Data Inertial Reference Units and a magnetic compass and for all of them to fail simultaneously is virtually null, not to mention that the plane and ground crew would need to have compatible WiFi/Bluetooth to do that, remember that many types of aircraft (Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Embraer, ATR, Cessna etc) park at many gates at many airports, thus it would be practically and economically impossible to install those systems and the maintenance costs would be ridiculously expensive . Now if you are going to reply along the lines of "Get a fucking life idiot" or "I don't give a fuck", I suggest you think twice. Don't make me regret having written this just for your snide remark.
