The advantage of the G4 is the ability to type in APNs directly, if you use a local sim (far cheaper, and usually faster service). For example, an Orange SIM is cheaper than any package that Glocalme offers for europe (and it works in all countries). The G3 is still best (longer battery life, but you can only do 5 devices).

@@redbugg99 not a thing. We are on a fixed income so I have an old prepay phone plan that does not include data but it only costs me 100 dollars per year. Wifi is so widely available that I rarely need data plan and the minimum data plan purchase for my iPad is 25 dollars while the Glocal lets me get enough to get by for 11 dollars - really helps me save money as these days u just can’t afford to be without internet access! Also, my iPad is soon to be eliminated from AT&Ts cell service and the Glocal will fill in that change nicely! It will allow me to push back need to purchase new iPad letting me derive greater utility from my current iPad. Folks with big budgets and most recent releases of technology prob wouldn’t find much use for this device but for anyone on a budget it lets one purchase a data plan on an as needed basis which is great for my budget!

Question about the U3: what if you don’t have internet on your phone and haven’t yet bought a data plan for your U3 either… then you can’t really get internet through the U3 because for that you’d first need to buy a plan through the internet (which you don’t yet have)…? Or does the Glocal app connect to the u3 via bluetooth..?

I think much of the deciding factor for investing in this is going to come down to the data costs. But even though after quickly glancing as a non client those costs seemed high, I still think that in my situation this would be a good investment and I am looking at some second hand options as well.

I recommend the duo turbo by glocal me over these 2 models. These are great at keeping you connected anywhere. Traveling out the country is the best reason to have one. Second is if your in a area that your cell phone provider as weak service. I travel to different cities ok business and having this with me keep me with a reliable way to stay connect it my service on my phone is weak.

Although my move to Italy will eventually be semi permanent and I would probably be more frugal with simply acclimating to their options, I am still what some consider to be a “starving artist,” so this often means finding myself in legal/marketing grey areas in an effort to either save a buck or to maximise flexibility. Currently, my painting studio has crappy albeit free WiFi, often leaving me with my humble Mint mobile plan as my primary wifi, not ideal, especially if one resides in a “non residential” space!

@@SolarPunk80 yes it will get expensive if you use it as your primary internet. But if you use it moderately when you need to surf the web with out frustrations this will come in handy. When I was in Europe for 2 months both Italy and Germany. I used the WiFi internet to stay connected and make calls back home in the US. Texting , FaceTime and FaceTime audio and surfing wherever I was out of my hotel WiFi Range I use the GlocalMe.

@@SolarPunk80 I’ve only used GlocalMe’s cloud sim. It if your using T-Mobile your best best is to get the T-Mobile 5G hotspot with a T-Mobile device can cancel it before you leave. I pay $51 a month for my 5G hotspot plan. Of course there a fee for the drive as well. I’m not sure what speeds you’ll get with TMobile using GlocalMe devices

They best for having internet in the clutch, emergency, or traveling outside your local area. They will eat up data compared to a unlimited plan with a major carrier

Thanks for the review. Is there throttling for any of the data plans? also, I'm trying to decide between a Skyroam or a Glocalme device. I just need something for fast reliable internet for a day or two when I take day trips to Utah (Moab area). I would use it in a hotel in town, so not out in the middle of nowhere. What plan or device would you recommend for fast reliable wifi for video conferencing and working remotely? Do you know if Glocalme might have better coverage or signal in Moab for example vs. Skyroam?

I’m not familiar with skyroam I’ve never used them. I have owned many glocal me products. Currently the one I’m using is the dual turbo that came out a few month after I made this video. With global me you’ll get up to 4G speeds but it really depends on the area. Global me will pick the best tower in the area and use that one. I recommend glocal for internet access on go and for traveling. When I’m in a hotel I use the hotels WiFi. I use the net gear beryl travel router as a middle man between the connections for keeping my data safe and secure. In my experience glocal me is really clutch when I’m traveling to other countries or if I’m in a bad reception area for my network which is ATT. I hope some of this help, another option could be some of the nomad wireless internet solution that a lot of Full time RV campers use.

@@redbugg99 GlocalMe takes a standard sim and virtual sim. If you buy a SIM card from a carrier I won’t know what kind of plan you have to know if it’s unlimited or throttled. For there virtual sim I’ve only purchased at most a 3GB plan that is unlimited until you run out. GlocalMe isn’t the device for high volume streaming. At least for me, I use it for travel to stay connected and to surf social media and FaceTime. For high volume and unthrottled internet i suggested looking into the nomad product. You also must understand that everyone’s service area will yield different results. What make glocal me reliable is that it’s not tied to one tower or services provider.

In my experience this device isn’t good for streaming of music. I’m unable to steam my Apple Music with GlocalMe, I haven’t tired any other players so I’m not sure about other platforms. I’m my experience GlocalMe is good for having good internet connection anywhere you travel. This connection is good for web surfing, social media, emails, FaceTime and Audio calls. Not good for streaming: KZbin Netflix etc. you can stream these platforms but the massive data consumption is not worth it on a pay as you go plan with GlocalMe cloud sim.

It’s works great as long as you’re able to get a signal from a tower. I’ve been in wooded places where I didn’t get reception but I’ve also Been in places where my cell phone signal is non existent but GlocalMe was able to provide WiFi. It’s all depends on location. Overall you’re best chances of having Signal is with glocal me

I have the best success with using the cloud sim. I suggest using GlocalMe cloud sim and buy a North American plan. That way if you don’t use all your data it will still work in the US. If your just travel to Mexico that’s my recommendation. If you’re moving to Mexico maybe a SIM card from Mexico will be best.

A PlayStation will eat your data up. They have different data plans as pay as you go. 1gb, 3gb, 10gb etc. the data plans are very expensive compared to unlimited plans offered from internet and cell phone providers. These mobile hotspots are good for surfing the web, checking email, social media, texting/FaceTime etc. not good for steaming music/podcast, gaming, Netflix,long hours on KZbin etc.

@@serena9763 yes it will absolutely work for that application. However I would recommend a mobile hotspot from t-mobile or Verizon as they offer unlimited plans. GlocalMe is pay as you go and depending on Your usage you can be page a lot of money with a prepaid plan. GlocalMe is great for traveling and having reliable internet connection almost anywhere. It using cloud sim and get cellular signal from the closes tower available. T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T etc. that’s a plus because it doesn’t depend on on just one service provider. But if you’ll be mainly on one location I recommend a unlimited plan with one of your local carriers.

We just got the U3 after watching this...have to say the service is terrible (0.93 Mbs download) and it already sucked 300MB for merely running a network test and contacting their support, would NOT recommend!

When I use this device I make sure I turn off the app background refresh to avoid unnecessary data usage. Are you using cloud sim or local physical sim?

@@DaveBeyTV We merely ran a speed test using the browser on a laptop so, that was it. We sent it out for a refund and so far only got a for the data package ($80) that we couldn't use, it's been a very frustrating experience so far.
