The stock Glock sights are actually very, very good for fast self-defence shooting. Which is their intended purpose. And even though Glock sights are plastic/polymer they are *tough enough and reliable enough.* If you change them you will find out how solidly attached to the gun they really are. I have owned at less 9 Glocks in 15 years. Never had an issue with the stock sights at all in CCW & range shooting. But of course they are not tougher than steel & they are not night sights so they like most handguns need to be replaced with other sights for the best 24 hour all-round use. EDIT: Good video, BTW!

I didn't want to be a Glock "Fan Boy" I really didn't, but...I am. The 26 was my first and that Damn gun is SO great I now own the 19, 27, 29 and 43. I also have a Kimber and the 938, but I've come to realize Glock is for me. I love the fit, the simplicity, the reliability and the fact that if I teach my wife and daughter on one Glock, they'll know how to use them all if need be. Plus...And this is big, all holsters for my 26 work on my 27...And some my 19 too. The 43 is a great summer carry in the pocket. The 29 is supreme in the woods. The nineteen is my bedside gun with its rail for a flashlight and the 27 is just fun and I have a little extra peace of mind with the .40 during very heavy clothing season. The 30 will be next and it will fit my 29 holsters perfect. Again, I love my Kimber Ultra Carry 2 and my Sig 938 for additional pocket carry, but Glock is for me. I just like them and shoot them all great. Excellent video. Subbed.

Finally wound up on the SIG P226 DAK and another one with an SRT DA/SA and an HK P2000 LEM, P30SK DA/SA V3 and. Love, love, love my Glock 19, and to me they all fall under an umbrella of awesomeness and it's dealer's choice. I prefer a longer trigger, but consistent, and revolvers, so a DAK (Surprisingly, very surprisingly, traditionally I carried the M1911A1 in my 2nd and 3rd tour vs the M9, or an HK USP) really nailed it for me with it's insane accuracy and follow ups. the HK LEM as well, imo the HK P2000 LEM and the Glock 19 are the two best out of the box carry size polymer framed pieces on the market. SIG P239, Kimber Ultra Carry II (and similar 1911s), Chiappa White Rhino are other favorites

It's very fashionable to hate the factory Glock sights but I've never had any problems with them... Another thing - most of the finger pressure in the grip should come from the second and third fingers. I've found that my pinky on the grip causes more problems than it solves. If two fingers on the grip is good enough for Hickok45, then it's certainly good enough for me!
@ghosthand3of97 жыл бұрын
I agree with you on the grip. I put night sights on mine but I was ok with the factory sights. I actually blacked out the rear sight.
@AcheronLV-4266 жыл бұрын
I like the factory sights. They work just fine in the dark if you use a flashlight, but in a pinch, night sights are a luxury that I feel is more of a necessity. This, of course, is just for carry. No need if it's simply recreational. Stock sights work great otherwise!

@twotwentyswift6 жыл бұрын
"A POWERHOUSE" and a beast? No, not even close. It's just a little 9mm with a poor trigger. I have one because it's reliable, fits my hand (after grinding off the silly finger grooves on my gen 4) and is easy to conceal carry. Glock doesn't make any calibers I would consider a powerhouse, but the 10mm Model 29 has adequate power in a compact size. If you want a powerhouse that's a size practical to carry you need a revolver in a caliber like .44 mag. Dirty Harry swore by his :) The 9mm is a good caliber because of its low recoil and every member of your family can shoot it comfortably. My son asked for a Glock on his 12th birthday so I got him a 17 in 9mm and he's become a good shooter with it over the years and I expect it'll serve him well for years to come.
@twotwentyswift6 жыл бұрын
@Nateamus The Streamlight TLR-6 is a nice setup that's made for the G26 and attaches nicely to the trigger guard since the 26 has no rail mount. Viridian also makes a nice setup you can get with the green laser but it does go through batteries much faster.

The gloss on the bullets is a lacquer they put on these bullets for corrosion resistance, once the barrel heats up it tends to melt the lacquer on the bullets as they go into the chamber and the cases tend to stick to the chamber and cause extraction problems especially if fired rounds are left chambered and allowed the lacquer to cool down while chambered tend to stick to the chamber as a hot glue gun would tend to do, best bet is cleaning the chamber, barrel, firing pin, extractor...etc. at once when with the firing session is done, that's the fringe benefits of using cheap ammo!

Love my 26! Added a +2 baseplate and carry an extra g17 mag. 12+1+17=30 rounds of fuck off in a small package. Reason I carry a 17rd mag is mostly for clearing a malfunction, having a big mag is easier for me to grab and get in my gun when seconds count and it's not much harder to carry than a 10rd mag. Much love for my 26.
@JR-wo3sn4 жыл бұрын
All things considered, this is the best overall handgun ever made. Most people shoot this better than the 19, has combat applications and can take larger mags. All of that combined with its reliability and simplicity makes this a must own. I would never sell or trade off my 26. If I could only own one handgun, this would be it.

Got a gen 3 Glock 26 for the right price, lol, with veteran's discount and every other discount and boom, it was down to $420 new with a desantis IWB gunhide holster which ain't half bad, imo. Really enjoy the fuck outta it, got some pearce grip extensions in spite of hearing mixed shit about it, put 13 in no problem with +1 that was really fun, used the other as-is, no problems in over 400 rounds in two shooting sessions, soon to b e 3 in an hour or two :). btw the Canick TP-9 SF is really, really holding up, I want to compare it with a G17 and I love the G26, it's my favorite handgun over quite a fair collection for my age and money-ranges, not just with the "ahhh, it's new, i love it, merry christmas to me!"-eyes. Once nice thing about the grip extensions is you get a g-19-ish feel if you so desire so it's kinda the best of both worlds when practicing and...anyway at defensive range the sights i've found are doable even though I'm used to the modded tritium night sights on my Kimber TLE 2 or my Beretta m9 (or 92fs for many).

I personally don't get grip extensions on a baby Glock. For me, and for others (e.g. Hickok45), even on large guns the grip pressure is import for the two fingers but not so much for the third. Moreover, when you have the grip extension, you might as well be carrying a Glock 19, especially since the part that prints, contrary to popular belief, is the front of the grip, not the rear, when the gun is canted in a holster. So if my clothing permits a pinky extension, more times than not it will allow my G19 and the weight difference is not a factor with a good belt and holster. That said, I carry my Glock 26 most of the time because it carries better than any of the double stacks in its flush magazine configuration. That's me, everyone is different I suppose.
@TheTsigane8 жыл бұрын
I got a Gen4 G27 recently and really like it (it's not my first Glock). It can be converted back to 9mm if I want, but I shot it the other day and it's very controllable, even rapid-firing it one-handed. I haven't bothered to get the grip extension and don't miss it, but I did add the Talon rubber grip covering and Snake Eyes sights. I'm partial to compact revolvers for a few reasons, but the baby Glock is great.
@MarylandRefugee20148 жыл бұрын
+TheTsigane the caliber isn't what's important, it's the magazine compatibility. I'm not a 40s&w guy, if you get a sub compact Glock in any of the calibers the mags are interchangeable, that with the reliability is what makes it in the conversation for "best ever" IMO :).

Hey there. Great video! What do you think about this pistol for carrying on a long distance bicycle trip?
@joseCalderon19767 жыл бұрын
Rookie here! After shooting my generation 4 G26 for the first time, I really like it. It's very controllable for such a small gun. The only hiccup that I had was that it didn't cycle my hornity critical defense hollow points (100g lite and 115g). My friend has a G19 (and so do I). Also the G43 failed with this ammo (all 4 guns are brand new and generation 4). We did shoot about 100 FMJ of all kinds with no issues through them. I picked up 147G hollow points now (recommended by other Glock owners) and was told that these guns need to be shot some more before they can cycle anything? I thought that was not an issue with Glocks, but I guess it depends on individual guns. My friend is an experienced shooter, so I don't think that he was limp writing his guns. Any tips with this issue? I already cleaned and inspected my G26, G19 and loaded the 147G hollow points and I'm ready to test again at the range. Thanks.
@scottm59728 жыл бұрын
It sacrifices a rail, but doesn't have the signature UGLY blocky slide on the muzzle end and it's nicely milled/rounded. My guess is that because it's primarily for concealment, the tapered muzzle slips into soft IWB holsters more easily after they collapse.
@MarylandRefugee20148 жыл бұрын
+Scott M very true, and I actually really prefer the rounded muzzle. I love the designs of the HK P30 muzzle..

MarylandRefugee Roger that 👍 I also like how it had the dual recoil spring from the start as opposed to the rest who only got on board with the gen 4. (why did they wait?) It might be double the money to swap out.. but what's that, a lunch at McDonalds? lol They're so simple and intuitive it makes me laugh how smart they actually are, and what finally sold me was when I saw Hickok45 nail a gong repeatedly at 230yds, firing off hand (with a G27 though, but close enough). The ultimate piece for the go-bag ;) PS. I tried those Pearce pinky extensions, but the non +1 in your upload was a little loose and made my magazine go "boing!" like an upside down jack in the box at the range as 10 rounds, a spring, floor plate and extension exploded out the bottom and literally made me jump lol. A couple of bucks and well worth the laugh we had 😂 Then I tried the +1 version that actually looks factory with the knobby texture for the finger groove. Nice and tight!

Still one of my favorites. I have the 26, 43, 19, 17, 22, 23 and the 35. I think the 26 shoots far better than it's small size would suggest. I think that the majority of the gun being basically in your hand really reduces muzzle flip (not that the 9mm is a beast) but I think the small size has a real effect on recoil management. Cheers!

I hit the like button after the reading the title. I changed my daily carry gun more times than I like to admit before I traded a stupid subcompact 1911 that will remain nameless for a gen 4 G26 with night sights. People who honestly carry every minute of every day know why Glock is so popular. If you hear a revolver guy claiming reliability superiority, he has never done any serious training. If you shoot revolvers, you know short strokes happen when shooting rapid fire. You can't short stroke a striker fire. For defensive carry for civilians, G26 is hand down the best. Every citizen should be issued one.
@MarylandRefugee20148 жыл бұрын
+Remember Rhodesia I carried a rock island 1911 compact for awhile. Great firearm, too heavy for my tastes. With the possibility of a 17rd subcompact with unparalleled reliability... A G26 will almost certainly never be topped as the Michael Jordan of ccw.

Pierce grip extension feels good in the hand, but for me it made it harder to conceal. I learned to shoot with out the pinky. On a two handed grip I just lock the pinky's together. Seems to work fine, at least for me anyway...

+Lance Cochrane I've found the pierce conceals well on my shield, at least much better than the 8rd mag. I think holster placement is the conversation there..

I had some crap steel cased ammo, and it jammed my Glock 26 as well, but it also jammed my S&W M&P Shield, SA XDs9, and Walther PPS. Sometimes it's just the crap ammo.

So the grip extension you're showing at about 6:00 is not the same as the extension that comes included with this gun? I'm confused.

good video. over the years iv'ed dumped alot of bucks into G's lol. for the money they are what they are a reliable striker fired pistol. i agree with you on a gun is a gun. i just like to shoot. each striker fire has it's own issues and need some up-grading. i like them all but some folk think that they are the best. cracks me up. lol.

Great video I carry a 19 off duty but I'm thinking about getting a 26...... Where do you go shoot?
@MarylandRefugee20148 жыл бұрын
+Michael Gaffney Glock 19 is my winter carry gun, I just put the 26 at the top because of its versatility to go from sub compact to full size mags. That to me changes the game in the sense of being able to fill so many rolls :).

Anytime I ever sold a Glock I had, I was always sorry and always came back to Glock. I've had the 26, 27, 33, 19, and 32. Loved them all. Will be getting a gen5 26 soon. I will carry it in a Aegis Armory sheath or guardian. Trigger guard always covered. Why? Because Glock-leg is real. Ran into a kid about a year ago that shot himself in the leg. I couldn't help but notice, because he had on cargo shorts. Really looked nasty.

hey bro quick question not hating but just wondering you using that right index finger as a support in front of the trigger guard does that help with accuracy? do you feel better shooting it that way or that's just something like muscle memory what you been using or practicing with

I have a g19 and was debating on getting a 26 for concealed carry just a question but if your adding a extension on the 26 y not just get a 19 since it basically makes the grip the same size?

Added pearce mag extensions today, to my 26, plus zero, as I am in the Country of California, where plus 1 or more, are banned, and I can barely tell the difference myself, from my 19...
@twotwentyswift6 жыл бұрын
You can always make the grip on the 26 bigger with larger magazines but you can't make the 19 smaller. The 26 is far more adaptable and concealable.

I have a gen 4 G19. I want a G26. I'm looking at the gen 3 because I like the smoother texturing on the sides of the grip for comfort of carry. Do you have a gen 3/4 preference?
@MarylandRefugee20148 жыл бұрын
+latorgator23 yea, I prefer a gen4 personally. Although both have the "double recoil" spring, I like the gripiness of the gen4. With the 26 it really only boils down to looks. Their the same in almost every other way :).

the best Glock handgun is anything in .40 cal for the fact that you can shoot 4 different calibers through it (9mm, .40, .357 Sig, 22lr) with conversion barrels
@MarylandRefugee20148 жыл бұрын
+Keith Gee hmm, yes... But then you'd have to factor in cost for all of that. I think as is, with the ability to use 4 different capacity magazines, the 26 is the way to go :).

Great work on the video. At work I wear the ballistic vest and the gear, so when I am off, I am not a big fan of a bunch of stuff on my belt. I carry the G26 with factory night sights IWB with the flush 10rd magazine. I prefer the 10rd magazine as it is shorter, and conceals the gun better. I do carry one spare magazine, usually a 17rd with a +2 extention in my left front pocket in an internal vertical carrier that is far better feeling than a belt mounted magazine. I think that having a spare magazine is important, for function from malfunction if nothing else. I have large hands but I have no issue with the pinky dangling under the grip. You get used to it. I personally don't care for the Pearce grip extension. I don't care for how it feels. I don't think it really gains me anything. If I was going to carry with an extension I would add a +2 Glock mag extension and benefit from the extra rounds while extending the grip, but for me that defeats the sweet spot that the G26 fills. If I wanted to have a longer grip, I would just switch to the G19 and gain in barrel legnth and sight radius. I have the G19 too, as everyone should, and I carry it from time to time along with the 17+2 reload, which makes it pretty easy, but I really find the G26 my true companion side arm in everyday life. Mine is a Gen 3. I find that my affections lie with her. Regards.
@MarylandRefugee20148 жыл бұрын
+dudepetri pretty solid carry. I chose the Pearce because the pinky extension doesn't print as much as an extended magazine, but also allows for a better grip. So it's like right in the middle of a g19 and a g26.

The Glock 26 is the most probably up there with number one Dependable reliable survival best handgun to carry all the time. The Glock 26 Will Never Let You Down and will always go bang and is easy to handle and just an all-around 110% firearm. It shoots anything you put into it and if you need it in a life-and-death situation that will always be there for you

I am new to firearms... I have a beretta 92 compact. And while it is awesome, I need something smaller and lighter. The short grip makes me worry a little bit about handling and shooting control... what is your opinion on this?
@MarylandRefugee20148 жыл бұрын
+kauxkaux well there are a lot of options for "smaller & lighter", but if your biggest concern is short grip, they have pinky extensions for most of them. The Glock 26 is definitely high on my list of choices though.

I've had a few FTE's with Tula MAXX Tech (or whatever it's called)....it's the cheapest brass ammo I've ever been able to find and for target practice I'm ok with that. If anything it's a good random malfunction drill to make sure you remember how to work through that!!! Otherwise never had an issue with reliabillity.

+shane trammel safety. You don't put your finger on the trigger till you're ready to shoot. One of the first rules of shooting :).

I'm talking about your right finger that you are placing and keeping on the outside front of the trigger guard as you shoot.
@MarylandRefugee20148 жыл бұрын
+shane trammel ah, well some people shoot with the grip facing downward for a more secure feel. It's more comfortable for me to have a finger there for support and doesn't effect my accuracy much.
@uncleben88957 жыл бұрын
You should really buy a left handed gun if you are going to shoot it with the wrong hand. :D You should get one of these 31 round stick mags if you have all that ammo. Can't wait to try mine out. They are on clearance on midwayusa for like 25 bucks I think. And they are glock branded! Also they make a molded grip you can add to your longer mag (15 round I think it is) and you will like that longer grip even better. Mine is xgrip, but a bunch of companies sell em for less than 10 bucks.
