This particular pistol seems to have hit a hot button with Glock haters. There was a time many moons ago I was in their camp, the whole Glock Perfection line just rubbed my rhubarb the wrong way. I was a hammer and metal frame purest. Had my 17 round astra and was happy to have it. Thought I could shoot pretty well with it too. One day at the range with my sister, a gentleman from the other end of the bench came down to ask about my sisters tiny keltec 380. She let him shoot it and he thanked her and went back to his business. A short while later he came back with his pistol and offered to let my sister shoot it since she let him shoot hers. My sister is a bit recoil sensitive and 9mm is uncomfortable to her, 380 being about as powerful as she goes. He offered the pistol to me and behold it was a Glock 17. I didn’t want to say to him, no I don’t want to shoot your crap Glock, so I accepted. So....let’s step back a few moments. The whole time we were at the range, at this bench I had been trying to peg this one plate with all 17 rounds out of my Astra A100. I consistently hit 16 of 17 but just could not do 17 of 17. Was really bugging me. So I took his 17 and sighted up the plate. The whole time my sister eyeballing me because she knows how I feel about Glocks at that time. Squeezed of the first round and TING. The next 16 rounds TING.. I thanked the gentleman as I handed the pistol back to him and he went back to his end of the bench. My sister turned and asked what I thought? I told her I needed to get a Glock. Since then I have had either a 17 or a 19. And they have always been great shooters, even when others more expensive pistols had break-in issues, the Glocks never did. I currently have a gen4 19, gen4 17 FS, G45 and G48. All are great guns and all shot without issue from day one. I have others, HK, Walther, SW revolver, Grand powers, XD, m,s, HS2000 the forerunner to the XD and other. And others from the past including Kimbers, Rutgers, Taurus etc. Most all were great pistols out of box, but some were real lemons. And with the exception of a small few I think I have tried them all. I think without exception all the poly pistols were great shooters. The metal frame pistols had some issues. I guess this rabble boils down to this for the Glock haters. Glock like so many others has their slogan. Glock Perfection. But are Glocks perfect? Yes and no. Perfect is relative to ones needs. And like so many other manufacturers Glock keeps expanding their line up and making small improvements here and there. I personally love the changes on the G45. Which the 48 only gets the front serrations. I’ve never been a fan of single stack pistols. I’ve never liked the limitation of round count with them. But it is easier to conceal a 48 on one side with a extra mag on the other than it is to properly hide a larger thicker pistol. No one gun is Perfect for everyone, but every gun is perfect for someone, even a hipoint. People need to remember that. Just because your favorite SW, Ruger, Sig or Kimber is the best option for you, it doesn’t make it the best option for all and we need to stop arguing and bickering about brand, and caliber, slide release/lock or over the top, press check or pull the slide from the back. It’s all crazy. We sound like a bunch of childish politicians bickering over how many millions to spend on turtle tunnels. And yes that’s a real thing. We are the 2A community. We are constitutionalists, or we’re supposed to be. Lets support our brothers and sisters in arms because our arms may not work for other. KAG

I was going to the local gun and thinking that I was going to buy a Glock 17, well I saw the 43x and the 48. When I put the 48 in my hands I was impressed with the feel of the gun and with the longer slide then the 43x, I was sold, the 48 I was holding had ameriglo sights factory installed! At the range I shot excellent groups! was very surprised, some of the best groups even on par with my S&W 686 that is my go to for tight groups. The trigger is fine, must be I shot great. I tried two of my ccw holsters for my M&P shield and the 48 fit even with the longer slide. Being that the grip is smaller gave me a tighter hold on the pistol than the 2x4 grip of the standard Glock. I'm not going to be messing with anything with the 48, I love that gun!

Nice work at the range and good objective review. Glad to hear it's a keeper. Agree 100% on the feel, the 48 might be a slim 19 but feels completely different. The people who have never held one should reserve judgement until they do. Wishful thinking I know.
@justice4053

Reserve judgment until holding..... or dare I say.... shooting one.....??? Preposterous! The 48 might not be for the guy who only likes the guns he already owns. However, for those of us that actually conceal carry daily and have a few different options based on garment selection, this pistol fits a Goldilocks zone. For slim carry, capacity, and actually wanting to train with your slim carry option due to reduced recoil, this one is pretty much in a class of it’s own.

I put mine up for sale. It's a great carry gun and conceals great, but the recoil impulse is unnecessarily snappy for its full size. The grip angle is also worst than the other glocks I've shot/own imo. It's like a bigger snappy version of the g43. It takes a conscious effort for me to keep the front sight down which effects my consistent accuracy at speed.

The 48 has the same trigger as the Glock 42, 43, and 43x. All are terrible compared to any other Glock trigger. Not sure if it’s due to them basing this on a pocket pistol trigger or what. They definitely need to make some changes on these models. You can make it feel better with a Ghost Edge connector and spring kit. I use a 5lb striker spring with a reduced safety plunger along with the connector to get a better feeling trigger with a trigger pull of around 3 3/4lbs. If you want a heavier trigger pull leave the factory safety plunger in and it will be around 4 1/4lbs.

A humble small observation, at 0:22 and at 0:43 you are anticipating recoil and yanking the trigger. That's the reason you're shooting low. I humbly suggest some dry fire practice. Get those sights to sit exactly where you want as the trigger breaks, every single pull. Do a lot of dry fire until you can call your dry fire shot as the trigger breaks and you can do it without thinking about it. Smooth pressure until the trigger breaks, focus hard on the front sight, do not to bottom the trigger out at the back of travel. When you live fire ignore recoil, focus hard on front sight.
@lawrencemudgett6500
@lawrencemudgett6500 5 жыл бұрын

I have short fat hands for a guy and have always felt double stack Glocks were uncomfortably large in my hand so as I watch these reviews of the 48 that it may be the Glock for me. Do you have a original G43 because if you do you have everything you need to make a 43x. I tried the 43 but as fat as my hands are it makes it very difficult to get a 3 finger grip on the pistol so if the 48 is similarly profiled as far as grip depth and girth I'm in. I had a 43X and while an excellent gun the 48 was more appealing to me, I sold my 43X and got a 48 couldn't be happier. I feel I can shoot the 48 a tad better and for me it is a lot more comfortable for all day carry while been able to put effective rounds on target, smaller guns are harder to shoot that is a fact and there is no way around I knew that but in my case I can manage the 48 the best out of all I had in the past except for the G42.

Man, that was a major statement. I don't see how the longer 48 can be more comfortable for all-day carry than the shorter 43x. That is THE deciding factor for me, and the reason I haven't been able to decide between the two. Can you say why it's more comfortable? (I'm picturing the end of the barrel poking me, with appendix carry.)

I am of the opinion if you have a Glock 19 you have no real reason to buy a Glock 48, on the other hand if you want a 43X by all means it is well worth the investment for the size reduction. But if you’re just going from a 19 to a 48 that seems kind of silly since all you’re doing is losing capacity for a tiny bit of weight and width savings. That’s just my opinions please don’t hate me for having one.

In Glock we trust. That being said i usally get tru glow sites. A new mag release, and depending which way the wind is blowing. A 3.5 lb trigger. Other than that i really like the reliability of the Glock. It would be nice to get a new Glock from the factory that already come with the trigger like a cz p10c, or some nice sights glow in the dark what ever just not those nasty Glock sights. Also a bad ass mag release with a nipple on it. But lets be real. They are making money on all this other crap you buy to make the gun a little better. Oh did i mention some stippling or something for a little extra grip. ? Anyway thanks for sharing.

IT IS NOT A PRETTY, FUN, TARGET, COMPETITION GUN!!!!! : / And the triggers are made multi faceted for comabt situations! Maybe someone in a stressed combat self defense situation heed trigger control so they dont unintentionally shoot someone if they dont want to. OR any number of stressed life or death situations in that moment! SO keep this in mind.. If you a perfect self defense tool in a hangun? GLOCK IS THE BEST CHOICE TO DATE FOR THAT USE... Here is a true statement (opinion): *The Glock 48 is a Glock that has the weirdest place in CCW & the self-defense world.* Here is why: - It is similar to the Glock 19 - why not get the more capable G19, with less recoil, & five (5) more bullets? - it is outsold by the Glock 43X 3 to 1. For every (1) Glock 48 sold three (3) Glock 43X's are sold. - It is the same pistol as a G43X. The only difference is about 3/4 inch slide & slightly longer barrel. *Question* For CCW & self-defense when you have the better for CCW - Glock 43X and better for OWB hip carry or home deference - Glock 19: why get the Glock 48 i.e. the odd gun? For me the Glock 43X makes more sense. How about you? *Note:* the trigger on all my past Glocks were pretty good as they work and I could shoot fast with them. But then to me when "gun" folks talk about a striker-fired gun trigger, I think *they are being way too picky.* In my entire 56 years on earth, for the military 1911 to my only one (1) gun I use today (I only need one gun): there has been only one bad trigger on a gun I bought. This gun had a terribly long, long, long trigger was the CZ P100. It was a bad trigger for self-defense. *Second Note:* Come on *1776 or Bust* again with the sights?!? Bro. Glock's standard polymer sights are *temporary sights* to get you up & running until you replace them with your favorite sights, usually for most people night sights. You should know this by now. Glocks are a *cheaper to buy with there "plastic"* sights and that makes it easier on the wallet so you can get the sights you like & are best for your needs. These polymer Glock sights are a plus not a minus.
@1776orbust
@1776orbust 5 жыл бұрын
the 48 has a longer sight radius due to the longer slide so that may have some inherent benefits and advantages. In regards to the difference between this and the 19 again some people's hands will not fit correctly on the 19 due to its blockiness so this may be an advantage for that person as well who would like a pseudo full size gun versus a full size grip with a short slide On a second note in regards to the site in the video I stated that you don't need to change the sights however I think that Glock should at least make their standard sights made of steel as opposed to plastic as most manufacturers have gone that way. And yes I agree that that is why I bought one with the standard sight so that I can upgrade to the ones that I prefer.

@@1776orbust Bro, my consumer comment(s) are directed at *everyone* reading & I have made a few videos on guns & general shooting under another user name. Although this doesn't really matter, right. OK, response to your earlier comments above - my answers in *BOLD:* COMMENTS "the 48 has a longer sight radius due to the longer slide so that may have some inherent benefits and advantages." *A difference of about 3/4 inch slide & slightly longer barrel is, I'm guesting here, not going to mean much* *in an actual CCW incident for which the G42, G43, 43X, & 48 are designed for.* *In CCW effectively smaller is the goal of concealability i.e. G43X is better,** *in outside the waistband carry that is not a big consideration hence the G19 win there.* HANDS "...the 19 again some people's hands will not fit correctly on the 19 due to its blockiness so this may be an advantage for that person." *This is the only thing the Glock 48 is better at over a G19: for folks who have small hands* (Rubio, be quiet please) *and want a Glock 19 size gun.* *That is about 10 people in my state. So it is a rare thing especially since those* "inherent benefits and advantages" *are so small they are hard to even see between the better (IMO) Glock 43X.* SIGHTS "I think that Glock should at least make their standard sights made of steel as opposed to plastic as most manufacturers have gone that way. And yes I agree that that is why I bought one with the standard sight so that I can upgrade to the ones that I prefer." *Glock does not agree with your 1st sentence here* 1776 or Bust. *They have been around for over 30 years putting temporary but useful sights on all their pistols. And they have heard for about 30 years people (usually the competition) complaining about how bad their "plastic" sights are. Only recently has Glock tried to answer these complains with options from the factory of Glock night sights and Ameriglo sights.* *Note:* These guns are more expensive than the standard polymer Glock sighted weapons. Which brings us full circle back to the reason Glock puts temporary sights on their pistols and why folks *not hip to it* think those are the sights Glock wants you to actually use in real life self-defense. WRAP UP If we let folks decide which new Glock works best for their CCW purposes, the people would & are saying: *"For every (1) Glock 48 sold three (3) Glock 43X's are sold."* (said by Lenny Mcgill - The Glock Store) EDITED - to correct spelling.

@@sweetcostarica8714 I try to keep this short in regards to the concealability the grip is the exact same length of both handguns so will it conceal better than the 48 I highly doubt that since really the concealability factor deals more with the grip than anything else In regards to which one is selling more again it's not necessarily about what I think or what you think it's about the individual purchaser of the handgun everyone will have their preference for me it happens to be the 48. And while I don't have the actual statistics on which one is selling more I'll take your word for the fact that the 43 x would be selling more than the 48. In regards to the issue with the Glock 19 while there may only be 10 people in your state I guarantee you there's many more people out there that have always shied away from Glock due to the ergonomics of the handgun this allows people who have shied away from Glock to now enter the Glock world

@@1776orbust You said, "And while I don't have the actual statistics on which one is selling more I'll take your word for the fact that the 43 x would be selling more than the 48." No problems. Please write Lenny Mcgill of the Glock store he said "For every (1) Glock 48 sold three (3) Glock 43X's are sold." *Heads up:* also, others have said things ling the Glock 43 & 43X are now Glocks No.1 best sellers. YOUR WORDS You also said, "In regards to the issue with the Glock 19 while there may only be 10 people in your state I guarantee you there's many more people out there that have always shied away from Glock due to the ergonomics of the handgun this allows people who have shied away from Glock to now enter the Glock world" I agree there are a few people who don't like and some that actually need to have there Glock's handle altered to fit their wee hands. I work with a very small woman that had her Forestry Service Glock 19 shaved down to fit her child sized hands. For the most part the Glock 43X is the better gun for them as said there is little if any need for the Glock 48's extra 3/4 inch side and about a 1/2 inch longer barrel for CCW. CCW is what these gun are targeted at right. SIDE BY SIDE Here is the reason I think the Glock 43X easily beats the Glock 48: The G43X for CCW is *more comfortable for sitting, is lighter, is quicker to deploy, points faster, it is better* for me & you. The compromises between the G43X and the G48 for CCW are barely if even experienced: - at the 0 to 15 yards self defense distances the accuracy difference is not too different unless you use a *magnifying glass* - the effectiveness of the velocity of a bullet out of a 4 inch barrel compared to a 3.4 inch barrel are also not measurable enough to make a difference. - the sight length argument is also not a real factor for CCW between the G26, G43, G43X, & G48. Only a difference with the bad marksman. As if you practice enough at 7 to 10 yards you will be grouping fist sized groups easily. - All modern hollow point (HP) bullets will perform out of a 3", 4", 5" etc. barrel properly. The difference in how big the HP expands does not matter if you are targeting the "deadly triangle" which is the head and two nipples on the human torso. REMEMBER: The power of your weak handgun caliber is in shot placement. BEING REAL *1776 or Bust* said, "In regards to which one is selling more again it's not necessarily about what I think or what you think it's about the individual purchaser of the handgun everyone will have their preference for me it happens to be the 48." Regarding this statement *(in my opinion):* The main and only reason, not benefit, not advantage to buy the G48 over the G43, G43X, G26 or even the G36 for CCW is for the "my gun is almost one (1) inch bigger than yours" mentality. That is the only tangible difference between these guns that effects anything i.e. the shooters *ego* is the only true difference in this type of comparison. Sorry, that is the truth of the matter.

So at the end of your lengthy retort you basically say that's it's an ego issue ....not for me it's my preference to carry the 48 and not the 43x I could care less what you carry or how small your gun is. It boils down to my preference which doesn't have to subscribe to your preferences or your facts.
