In a race to the bottom to shrink grips and barrels to nothing - Glock says "Yeah, Nah" and drops the hero people need in the form of the Glock 48 and Glock 43x. I'm a LEO and I carry a G48 off duty. I love this gun and it fits all my needs. I've ran a couple hundred rounds through it stationary, moving, and prone/supine. No issues and the control is great. Stayed on target, minimal recoil, and put some pretty good groups while running drills. Very pleased with this gun.

Poe Performance it’s the only small 9 I haven’t felt like I couldn’t perform as well with as my big guns - I don’t resent it for not being a double stack - I feel totally comfortable stepping out with it because it can deliver all of my skill where I felt like I had to fight the 43 to get it to participate- specifically when trying to shoot quickly

If you own a 43, buy the 48. The 43 slide will work and then you have a 43x.

I guess if you have a lot of handgun for whatever reason maybe switching slides, barrels, frames, etc., is a fun hobby. Still I not feeling it.

I like the 48. Got a chance to shoot one. It was awesome. I was a skeptic since I carry the G19 a lot. But the thinner 48 is awesome. Also, i know people like the Shield mags. They seem nice. I simply carry the 10 round factory mags. The point of this gun for me is a true lightweight Glock 19 for summer carry, so I sacrifice the few extra rounds.

To me - the light goes against the mission of the pistol - it's not trying to be a duty gun - it's an 18oz pistol meant to be very skinny. I know that there are those that demand WML on their gats but those folks typically want more rounds too. Maybe Sig can make a light that fits on the glock trigger guard - LOL.

the Glock 48 has a Glock 19 length slide byt it has a Glock 43 length rail, I don't think the 43 was designed to have a rail on it.

Well, so far this has been the Best Review I have heard on the G48. I just love my EDC G43 with a 1 round extension from HYVE but I just Purchased a G48 because of all the positive things being said on this video. I will be going to my LGR this Thursday and I know I will just love this gun!

@@Pler1978 I am currently carrying a P10C but I really didn't have any issues carrying the 45 on my hip. I am kind of thick though so that helped lol. Get a holster that has a "claw" attachment that presses the butt of the gun into you more and you should be good.

Very Well Done Review. You covered several differences and points overlooked by nearly every other reviewer of the 48 that I see yet. I am very pleased with my (black slide) Glock 48 and have two gen-2 Shield S15 magazines that run flawlessly. This is my new EDC having replaced a Glock 30S. I believe the Glock 48 w/S15 mags is very nearly the perfect conceal carry fighting gun.

The Glock 48 is my first handgun. I guess it was a lot of luck that I picked it out from the display case. I just loved the look and feel of it from the moment I saw it. Been out to the range 3 times with it so far and loving it even more. Only other experience I had with shooting was with a 38 in the Military so not a lot to compare it too but with the craziness going on in the country today I decided I needed to pickup something for home and personal defense. I’m confident the Glock 48 fits my needs!

I have a 48: Excellent....I fired the H&K vp9, and the Springfield XM s: all are good: you want reliability...... Glock with the S15 from Shield is the way to tackle the mag size. The best of both worlds: I have 2 mags, with hollow point and 2, 15 round S15 shield mags: Remember to change the mag. catch!! , if shooting many many rounds; as shield suggests.

Love my G48 with S15 mags from shield arms. Its the same sight length as the G19 but its the slimmer version to help print less for a fluffy boy like me, and I get the same round count as a G19 with the shield arms mags so yea all win there and no loss. Unless you need a bigger gun cause you can't handle recoil in a lighter gun...........there are always those special snowflake types but for me it's the optimal carry gun especially if I have to tuck a shirt in or something.

Im so glad someone else pointed out the live round ejection issue. I owned a 43x and didnt have this problem, so i was slightly worried something was up! Haven't test fired yet, but i generally trust glock out of the box.

@@TheHumbleMarksman Worked flawlessly after 300 rounds of Tulammo. Just had issues with the metal mag release from Hyve; upgraded because i purchased the shield S15 mags. Wouldn't lock the slide back on last shot. Verified by the fact i can reproduce with an empty mag and chamber in my hands. So be weary of Hyve mag releases maybe.

This 48 is the perfect middle ground between a concealed carry gun and a full sized fighting handgun. The Shield 15 round mag sealed the deal for me, but even the 10 round magazines are plenty of capacity.

I was going to get the 43x but figured I might as well pick the 48. Barrel length is a moot point for conceal ability when you appendix carry. The grip fits my hand way better than my G19.

Just bought a 48 to replace my 19 when carrying in warmer weather. Took it shooting with my brother and his M&P Shield and hands down the 48 is outstanding in comparison in every way.. The 48 also feels and conceals so much better then my 19. Yes, the 19 has 5 extra rounds. But, if you live and work in an area where you need that kind of firepower. You need to move.

As a new shooter (to handguns anyway), the security 9 I've been learning on makes me shift my grip to the right to correctly reach the trigger (petite hands and short fingers). I tried the 48 at the local store and I'll be purchasing one soon. Fit perfectly.

Glock are geniuses i was fortunate to hold the 43x so i can imagine what the grip on the 48 feel's like. You are absolutely right, it make sense to have a longer grip that you can hold. I'm not a fan of single stack handguns because of the shorter grip and size, but i Would actually carry the 43x and 48. The only problem i had with the 43x was the price. My local dealer had it for 500 hundred dollar's. I said " God Damn" I'm sure i can find it cheaper, but I'm not paying no 500 hundred dollar's for no single stack 9mm when i can buy a Gen 4 double stack for the same price.

My G48 has quickly become my favorite EDC weapon of choice. I put an Apex trigger and a Taran Tactical spring kit in mine and now it’s golden. Shield Arms is coming out with a 15 round flush fit steel magazine for the G43x/48 this summer, So with a barrel longer than a 19 and magazines that will be available that will bring capacity up to a G19 without adding length, Why not chose the G48?? @@TheHumbleMarksman I bought the Glock 43X instead of the Glock 48 (or the other Glocks). The G43X for CCW is more comfortable for sitting, is lighter, is quicker to deploy, points faster, & better for me. The *compromises* of both the G43X and the G48 for CCW are barely if even experienced between the two pistols: - at the 0 to 15 yards self defense distances the accuracy difference is not too different unless you use a magnifying glass. - the effectiveness of the velocity of a bullet out of a 4 inch barrel compared to a 3.4 inch barrel are also not measurable enough to make a difference. - the sight length argument is also not a *real* factor for CCW between the G26, G43, G43X, & G48. Only a difference with the bad marksman. As if you practice enough at 10 yards (the video's example) you will be grouping fist sized groups easily. - All modern hollow point (HP) bullets will perform out of a 3", 4", 5" etc. barrel properly. The difference in how big the HP expands does not matter if you are targeting the "deadly triangle" which is the head and two nipples on the human torso. REMEMBER: The power of your weak handgun caliber is in shot placement. *The ergonomic part of this video:* dirty or clean Glock light/laser rail slide finish/coating slide stop trigger serrations front serrations grip traction (hold tighter if the gun moves in you hand) - etc. is OK info. but *not important* for actually using your pistol day to day in the holster waiting for the hope never to happen CCW incident. So the main and only reason (not benefit) to buy the G48 over the G43, G43X, or even the G26 for CCW is for the *"my gun is one (1) inch bigger than yours"* mentality. That is the only tangible difference between these guns that effects anything i.e. *the shooters ego* is the only truth difference in this type of comparison. NOTE: Also seen in this video: *Appendix Carry* *Warning:* Do not appendix inside the waistband (AIWB) carry!! A lot of useful info. I don't own a 43, but I am on the market for a thinner carry pistol. Just sold my Sig P365 and do own a Glock 19FS gen 4. Based on this, would you suggest the 43x or the 48? I did look at the 48 yesterday at the LGS and was not impressed with the slide finish. It looks much different in person than on the videos and it was already a bit dirty just from people manipulating the pistol for 2 hours since the shop opened in the morning. I don't see a point in having a shorter barrel. Less velocity and sight radius - gaining you like .6" less of holster giving you a gun that is more likely to turn out over your belt due to imbalance?

I see the reasoning behind the 48 and 43 X (especially the 43X). A quick mag change on these very short grip pistols like the G43, Sig 365 and Walther PPS takes a bit of gymnastics to do a quick reload, where the 48 and 43X makes it much easier. Many folks are anyways using extended mags on these small pistols weather it be for a better grip in the hand or an adequate round capacity. The 48 is definitely something I would consider to be a valid option for those who live in countries where you can only have one SD pistol and where a second pistol for range use is a head ache to get. The 43x and 48 looks like a good option for female firearm owners, it's a common complaint to hear from females that the Glock 26, 19 and 17 feel uncomfortably big in their hands due to the grip size. Is the glock 43X and 48 for everyone? Probably not. Anyways great points made on this video

you're 100% correct - I think folks with small hands will find a happy home on this grip. The 48 especially is a gentler shooter than the 43X so it gets my top spot for women looking for a gun that won't shove them around. Smith Shield EZ still my go to for women not interesting in shooting.

As a Canadian I wanted a Glock 19 but Canadians are already restricted to 10 rounds so there’s no point for me to get a double stack gun that’s pinned to 10 rounds anyways plus I have smaller hands so this is the perfect gun for me

Very good video. The very important fact you did not mention and which may well be the real reason for the Glock 48 is that it is legal in Canada. Pistol barrels have to be 105mm and magazines are limited to 10 rounds in Canada so, the Canadians now have a new Glock they can enjoy.....the 19X with a 10 round magazine is also legal in Canada. You also covered one of the practical world-wide reasons that the Glock 48 with its longer slide is a great addition to the Glock line which is it will fit any sized hands. Not everyone.....male, female or younger person, can handle a double stack Glock grip comfortably which for me anyway, has prevented me from buying a Glock 19 even though I really love that firearm. Any medium sized or smaller male hand and any woman's hand can easily grip the Glock 43X or Glock 48.

I love my small 43. I do understand the 43x for the mag. I own a standard for carry, a Pierce +1 and Striker Industry EMP +2 and very satisfy and I may get a smaller pocket carry but never bigger. I don't understand the 48 only because it's not much smaller than the 26. Good review.

If you ever shoot a gun under pressure - it's generally easier to get hits with a longer sight radius. The slide is heavier and slower so it makes it easier to track in recoil versus the more sudden/violent 43 slide. The trade off to get at that is a bit longer in the holster. Plus - the 48 carries basically identically to a 43 in a belt ride holster. If you're IWB - the 48 makes a ton of sense - for OWb the 43 shorter slide makes sense - conceals a bit better.

I've owned a G19 gen3 for years, it served as my duty weapon when I was on the job. I purchased a G43 I could not draw that weapon from concealment smoothly nor could I shoot it accurately. I went back to a 2" small frame revolver for warmer weather. I currently have a G48 on lay away. I will find out in about 3 weeks if it's a good choice. I don't understand people buying a 43 and putting on magazine extensions making the grip as long as a G19 and in some cases compromising reliable function. I think from watching your video the 48 for my hand size is realistically as compact as I can go for a purchase for smooth draw and shootability.

Just traded my Glock 19X for the Glock 48. I love my 19X but it was difficult to carry concealed being a heavyset guy. This new Glock 48 feels much more comfortable and easier to conceal. The other reason I traded in my 19 x was because I live in New York state which only allows us to carry 10 Rounds. If I was still living home in Philly I would have kept my 19X and purchased the G48

19x was designed as OWB duty pistol. Not to be cincealed carry. The G48 will conceal much better.

I can carry a G19 with no problems and thought that there was no need for the G48. I ended up buying the G48 and I really like it. Just being a little thinner makes a difference when carrying all day. I own the G43 but I’m still thinking of getting the G43X as well.

I had both present - the HST is my current carry ammo and it was tested - I burned up the rest of the old Hydroshocks. I bought the 50 rd LEO boxes of it before they took them off the shelf. That said - yeah I botched the videography / edit on it - sorry!

As you state the coating is more Gen 4 than Gen 5. Also the slide stop/release isn’t Ambi hence why I call the 43x & 48 Gen 4.5

The slide release integrates the same was as the full ambi one - I suspect it's not to keep it skinny. It is a 2 pin frame as opposed to a 3 pin frame, there is no TRS - the trigger bar is a scaled down gen 5 bar. it's more a gen 5 than a gen 4.

Will it conceal as well at 4:00/4:30/5:00 IWB as the 43X? Especially when seated or driving? Seems like the added length might not be as comfortable in the seated position.

Concealing - yes because it's the grip that matters - not the muzzle. When driving or seated - on me it's not the muzzle that causes issue - it's the fact there is a gun there at all - basically where my belt presses into a chair. Again - not the muzzle causing the issue.

Is it ok if my striker jingles when shaken? It didnt when I first got it. I took it apart once. Everything is in place just fine. But it's just moves slightly. If I take my upper of and hold the striker notch and shake it doesnt make the sound so I know that's it.

if the gun has the trigger pulled and the trigger is dead - yes - it's OK if the striker jiggles. if the trigger is not pulled - no - that's not ideal.

Looking back at this video. Would you take this 48 stock with a light on it on the new mod version or the current g19. Or would you take a 43X with a threaded barrel and Suarez street comp break on it?… which by the way would equal out to about the same length of a 48 anyways. Which one would you find more accurate and more tolerable to shoot for every day carry? If you had to choose which one would it be.

There's no question the suarez set up is easier to shoot - especially one handed - but there's also no question that it's a lot louder. Personally - I could go either way. It is an advantage academically but the comp is so small it's not really exploitable - unless you only shoot one handed - the gun recovers much faster one handed with a comp.

The *G43X* sells much better than the *G48.* 3 to 1 according to Lenny Mcgill. So for every one *Glock 48* sold, three *Glock 43X's* are sold. That should tell you something about CCW between these guns. BTW: I love the Glock trigger as I hit my target much easier than my SIG.
