The fact is that it really doesn't matter how powerful Blackbeard is *now*. We all know he's going to be the pentultimate or ultimate boss, meaning he has to surpass all other Emperors (besides Luffy) and Marines (including Kuzan and Sakazuki). Since he inherits Rocks' will (seemingly), he probably will have to surpass him too. Since he's stronger than old Rayleigh, who stalemated Kizaru, it's probably fair to say that he's currently >= an admiral, but that's not as obvious as where he will be when he fights Luffy.

Blackbeard has been built up since Jaya as Luffy's ultimate pirate opponent. He is the other side of the same coin from Luffy. They both believe in dreams, but Luffy is the Sun and a liberator, a honest person, meanwhile BB is an enslaver, a coward and the darkness. I believe he is the son of Xebec due to his ships name, his plan being similar to Rocks and Saturns recent line. And he is also responsible for the death of Ace, the son of Roger. And his big opponent is Luffy the new age Roger. He has the Tremor fruit that belonged to Roger's rival WB. He or his crew is now responsible for the capture of yet another one of Luffys most important people in his life, Garp. Blackbeard mearly sees his crew as tools, not as family like Luffy. And he may very well be the one to kill Luffys biggest idol Shanks. Just the amount of narrative parrallels and set up makes it clear that Blackbeard is the ultimate antagonist for Luffy and will be his strongest opponent. His dark fruit disables DF powers, his Tremor fruit causes destruction. Pair that up with some at least good Haki and you have an absolute monster.

His dark dark fruit is co pletely useless, as luffy can now utilize th haki of the kings perfectly. So stop hyping him up for no reason. Imu seems to be more than just a "meany" villain, if that makes sense, it seems the clash he/she had with joyboy and the D clan was a clash of two ideology, this is more important to the story than bb vs luffy. Not only that he might as well be stronger than the gorossei, the gorossei who gear 5 luffy can't beat (specifically saturn). If luffy gives bb the punch he gave to saturn, he would be gone in an instant. So no bb is not the most powerful opponent luffy will ever face.

I dont know if its just me, but blackbeard definitely be holding back his true strength. In the latest anime chapters he freakin tanked a mihawk seraphim slash with armament haki. I really hope his shows of weakness was all part of his plan to find an opening or him just having fun manipulating his enemies/allies into thinking he has a weakness or something.

I see the balance in powers being this: Shanks is the emperor master of Haki. Blackbeard is the emperor master of devil fruits. And Luffy is a master of both but below the mastery of the individual powers of the other 2. Shanks never implied he was going all out against bb. He even implied that he was a bit careless, but that wasn't the reason he got the scar. We don't know enough of the fight to decide what actually happened. It could literally be the same case as pre-ts luffy or zoro giving kaido a scar. Both getting hit weren't going all out and were still able to be hit despite being stronger.

If the timeline and math is correct, shanks got his scar at 24(?) years old 13 years before the main story starts. 7(?) years before becoming an emperor by the WG! Blackbeard didn't get his fruit until years later so both at 24 and 25 respectively were likely no where near their current strengths. So Blackbeard scaring a weak shanks(compared to 13+ years later) means this feat that people use to scale Blackbeard and shanks current status as Yonko is null and void and at best irrelevant. Both were at far weaker states and likely Blackbeard did the scar through a sneak attack of some kind or when shank's guard was down.

i feel like his power level differs depending on the personality thats in control. cause him having 2 dfs should put him at a minimum of admiral level, and haki doesnt turn off devil fruit related attacks (black beards 2 known ones in specific) because he should still be able to quak people and nullify other devil fruuits since those are active attacks/effects. sorry if my english is bad

Actually you could even say that's plot armor in favor of Boa lol. Blackbeard was thinking about killing Boa, nothing stopped him from doing so since he was already choking her. Not to mention he got his Quake DF. After killing her, he could've easily followed up by fighting Rayleigh and beating him (since Ray himself says he's weaker than Blackbeard)

Law is in the first commander range and forced Blackbeard to what seems like a mid dif. The true top tiers like shanks, Kaido, Akainu, Aokiji etc would dispatch Law much easier.

He did very likely fodderize Law actually. Law only got a surprise attack on him through Blackbeard free-falling and having an awakened DF, then when Blackbeard gets on land, Law uses the same attack but this time Blackbeard blocks it and clashes with him, then he uses Black Vortex. You could say Blackbeard one shot Law from that point, cause he grabbed him, nullified his DF and could've just kept punching him with as many quakes as he would've liked
