The culture was so much more creative back then. People took risks, and BOLD risks, whether that was career risks, shooting to get into a great college, going after that hot girl who seemed unattainable. And the risks paid off --- so often people succeeded with these bold risks. I've also noticed that in music the artists collaborated so much more. You saw individual artists partnering more --- Bowie and Queen, Mick Jagger producing for Peter Wolf, Stevie Nicks doing duets, Rod Stewart and Ronald Isley. Live Aid, Do They Know It's Christmastime. Mick Jagger and David Bowie. It was so dynamic.

I play Gloria Estafan and the Miami sound machine songs sometime, but I did not know who made this song back in the 80s, I always thought it was one of the debut artist because they did not play it a lot. Thanks to Google, I went to a quiet section of the store and hummed the ( Uh Uh Uh oh falling in love) into Google and bam, I've been playing it ever since. Now I know it is her so I will play it when I play her music, thanks to The Home Depo and Google. What a beautiful song.

Fan of every one of her songs. There's just something about the quality and tonality of the sound you just can't get anymore of it today. How should I put it... When I close my eyes and listen it has that ability to take you somewhere far far away into another place and time and you're just lost in that moment. When I tell people that I love the sounds of the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, all generations of music - they look at me like I'm some 60 year old when I'm just 35. I just love it, that's all.

Amazing in retrospect how much better the 80's were in comparison to just about everything today. A continual degradation of our society. Morals, etiquette, corporate responsibility, lawfulness, innovativeness, selfish less, are so absent today. Songs like this are another great example of how great things used to be. Happy to have lived through the 80's and have an idea what good is.

Yes... People getting more rights, is totally a "degradation of society". The music and aesthetics and party scene of the 80s was great, but that's about it. Ask any person alive during the 80s who grew up during the 50s and they would probably say the exact same thing that your saying, but about the 80s. Everything seems better in retrospective, when in reality it's not. Life will always be hard, but we tend to look back on the past as a form of escapism and ignore all the bad.

mrfrogbutt1 Preach it!! In my opinion it all started with grunge and proceeded to go downhill from that point on. A buddy of mine said it best: "grunge was the Special Olympics of music!" I agree with him; It was too simplistic, too stripped down and it proved that any schmuck off the street could pick up a guitar, turn the distortion all the way up, scream incoherent bullshit about how miserable life is into a mic and call it music! If grunge proved anything it was as dull and gloomy as the Seattle weather.
@mrfrogbutt18 жыл бұрын
Phayzyre105 I blame RAP, not grunge at least with grunge, people wrote,worked and played an instrument. When have you seen a single rap star play an instrument of any kind nor bother to write anything original?
@phayzyre10528 жыл бұрын
mrfrogbutt1 I'll at least give credit where credit is due; Yes grunge at least did have people that played their own instruments and despite being gloomy as a rainy Dorian gray cold Pacific Northwest winter (IMO) it at least had originality, so kudos for that. As for rap, I wholeheartedly agree! Duane Allman said it best: "rap is short for crap!" I about spit beer all over my computer screen when I saw the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induct NWA which in my opinion what unadulterated blasphemy! Rap was cool back in the 80's but nowadays it's all "kill a nigga, mutha fuckah booty call" ignorant bullshit!
@mrfrogbutt18 жыл бұрын
Phayzyre105 Music (IF that's what today's junk is?) devolved into a PILE of crap thanks to rap,Disney,American Idol and the record companys who demolished any artists by destroying their chances in survival. As a huge Prince fan I understand now more than ever his fight against WB, the industry and ALL the parasites that live to make millions off of other people's work. Looking back we see this music industry going broke,the music getting shittier than ever,massive decline in sales,kid stealin the shitty music left and right and the REAL musicians struggling to get any exposure. It all goes hand in hand, you didn't see this in 50s-1990s, never like this.

This Woman and her band The Miami Sound Machine literally introduced me to Latin Freestyle. Her talent is off the charts. Just listen to this after a stressful day and your problems will slowly disappear! ❤

This has always been a guilty pleasure song for me. I'm a classic rock modern rock heavy rock blues kind of guy. But this pop classic always did it for me. Just a beautiful pop song that takes you back to a simpler time!

Ahhhhh! I had no idea she sang this song! I remember it as a kid and I wanted to listen to it again so I googled “uh oh uh oh falling in love” and of course it pulled up and BAM! It’s Gloria Estefan! She’s so awesome! I always loved her voice. This song is catchy AF! And I love the 80s vibe of the music video! Good stuff indeed!

It hits you even harder when the song plays at a time when you're experiencing what's being sung in the song. Word for word. Depressing yet beautiful.

I remembered seeing this on a late night video show on TV while growing up. From what I can tell, Gloria Estefan and other 80's female singers know how to look classy and sexy at the same time, but without showing off the unnecessary stuff. She definitely looked so heavenly in this video.

Agreed...these women did not have to show it all off...it was raw talent...now a days..women have no shame...and what's funny is these no shame women are looking for down right wholesome good men...see a problem here...

@@ramslucas5140 You made some interesting points here. Raw talent was in abundance back in those days.

@@briankh2007 right...as you pointed of the classy yet very appealing woman...back in the day "romance" was the trend..you had feelings that were invested into someone so much... anybody with those feelings would muster up the courage to sing a love song to them...even if you knew you couldn't sing...and if you were rejected..it was a builder to character..the trial and errors of romance is now a myth...nobody has the balls to put it out there, everyone is scared to get rejected... These days image rules and real people are a few...and tik tok and social media are responsible for the destruction of the real human experience....for instance growing up in the 80s our social media was going to the mall...interacting with real people hanging out at the arcade...with real people..remember putting your quarter up on the lined up with other quarters, it was a lesson in respect and honesty...you can be a part of all the subcultures that existed without any judgement, social structure today has decayed...your not allowed to dream anymore, that crush you have in school you can't just kiss her on cheek and run thats harassment, see what I'm saying....its music like this that triggers my brain to a time where life was lived, stories were told and love was around you and everyone wanted it...the complete opposite of today....you feel me

I have fond memories of this song...Christmas time 1986 and my high school was performing Cabaret. I played the owner of the Kit Kat Klub, my mom was dropping me off at school for opening night, I was wearing a full dress tuxedo w/ tails, a white scarf and grey fedora and this song came on the radio. Funny how a song can take you to an exact time and place. I miss the 80s.
