I dont think its fair to say that Megs songs "Dont Stick", because they do. Every single one of these girls have a particularly novelty factor upon 1st coming out, and due to that, all of their 1st major songs tend to stick. When Meg 1st started to break into mainstream, you couldn't escape "Big Ol Freak" or any of her other songs, and collabs. They were literally EVERYWHERE, and lingered for a year and some change. Sexxy's "Pound Town" as well as Glo's "FNF". The mainstream music market in this generation has a VERY short attention span. Glo is still in the dawn of her career, so ppl are still enjoying the process of getting to know her. It seems like once ppl feel theyve GOTTEN to know you, they clock out, or interest begins to shift to whatever is new, then they simply begin to support you as a casual fan from a distance. Meaning they may buy, they may not. They may stream something to give it a listen, but wont mass stream. One of 2 things will happen. These ppl who purchased her album will either become lifelong fans, or theyll just become casual listeners again once they feel they've gotten their fill of what she can do. I personally cant wait till we recognize that this 1st weeks sales conversation is tired af from ALL standpoints. All it means is a bunch of ppl downloaded it at the earliest possible opportunity. It isnt a metric to measure success of an album in its longterm. I hate how sales and chart obsessed this generation has become. Im so thankful i lived in a time where we just got up, went to SunCoast, FYE, Sam Goody, Radio Shack, or KMart, bought an album, enjoyed it, then talked to our friends at school about how amazing we felt it was. Social media, Twitter, and Stan Culture really ruined the music experience. Nobody was this pressed a out numbers in the 90s and early 2000s.

I do think Glo’s album was very good and better than Meg’s. But that isn’t because Glo is a better music maker. She has a team with a formula behind her. They know what to cut and what to keep. That makes a huge difference. Meg is doing it all on her own and it shows. Her album was too long, disjointed and repetitive. If Glo was independent, we’d see similar quality of albums. However I do expect more from Meg since she has more years in the game and is a more mature artist who is more than capable of putting out a #1 album. She needs someone in her corner to help with production and storytelling.

But her music wasn't as popular as it is now until her team realized what people wanted to hear from her and started pushing it. Even her visual aesthetic and identity as an artist changed. I think, on a deeper level, the tone of Glo's music is speaking to the times we're in. That aggressive and gritty sound is relatable to most people because of how bad the economy's doing, the dating war between men and women, the political landscape, etc. People are frustrated and I think the tone of her music reflects that. It may not directly speak to that but the vibe does. The tone of Megan's music just isn't picking up on the vibe that we're currently in. It gives the space we were in before the pandemic. But as another commenter said, I'm rooting for both women.
