It’s not a bird studio reference but Toriyama himself since Tori means bird and he drew himself as a bird avatar before. That‘s where the name of Bird Studio came from in the first place. The opening also has an touching reference Toriyama.

It's so unfornute that you don't watched the original series. Original Dragon Ball fulled with adventure and old scholl Martail artist fights and great score. You're definetly need to watch that show. Btw opening and ending was fire and has some nostalgic vibes to the OG DB and that's great.

the sad reality is majority of DB fans probably watched DBZ first before watching OG DB. As cool as the English dub for DB was, it seriously fragmented the fandom on the characterizations of the Z cast.

In terms of hype, iconicity, cultural impact, inspiration and favoritism, nothing will ever surpass the 🐉DragonBall🐲 series. Literally grew up in the 90s and early 2000s right alongside it so I got to see it during it’s peak glory days, never experienced anything like that again even with removing nostalgia or bias, hopefully this is better than Super, and while I enjoyed GT, hopefully it’s even better than that. The opening theme song is also the most emotional and best tribute I’ve seen in a long time as in Japanese when they say “never give up” they said Akira Toriyama’s name which you can find on the Japanese version of the opening. R.I.P to animanga Legend Akira Toriyama. Here’s to the last project he’s ever worked on.🫡

I would love to see you watch the og Dragonball, its a little pervy as its a product of its time, that goes away after a bit though when the show starts really going, its a fun adventure and you get to see the start of all the relationships etc how all the characters first meet, like how Bulma Krillen become best friends with Goku etc. A must must watch.

The OG Dragon Ball was more about martial arts than it was ki blasts and magic. You should def consider watching OG dragonball all the way, and then maybe playing DBZ kakarot or something to refresh DBZ.

This is before Super. The time chamber is still broken as Daima is right after the Buu arc. It doesnt get fixed till Super PLUS there was a rule to where you can only enter it twice in a lifetime, which doesn't get changed till Super

Nope, Yudai Mino replaces Ryō Horikawa as Vegeta in this series, in addition to Tomohiro Yamaguchi as Piccolo instead of Toshiro Furukawa. With the exception of Masako Nozawa as Goku and Goten, everyone was recast for their mini forms.

Great episode! The lore building is amazing. Couple things I’m still confused on. 1. How did the wish work on Buu, if the wish was for everyone that defeated Buu? 2. So do namekians age very slowly? We saw piccolo grow into a full grown adult in 3 years, but dende has been around for atleast 12+ years. So why was he make a baby instead of a child?

1. the wish was for everyone who defeated buu AND their friends. plus also buu took part of the fighting towards the end by holding off kid buu for goku to charge the spirit bomb 2. headcanon is that piccolo grew WAY faster compared to other namekians because king piccolo's initial purpose for him was for him to take revenge on goku. making it so that he rapidly grew to fulfill that purpose. similarly on how king piccolo's other spawns are also fully grown the moment they hatch. they serve more as a minion than a proper continuation of the species

Shenron being able to turn them into kids makes no sense, since they're more powerful than him. He couldn't turn 17 and 18 back into humans back in the Cell Saga.

I think one is harder than the other. If he can give eternal life and youth he could make someone younger. Especially since he was able to make King Piccolo younger. He can effect people stronger than him, he can't harm those stronger than him. Turning 17 and 18 back into humans would be harder because they were genetically altered. That's the explanation.
