COMPLETELY agree! Unless something wonderful and unexpected happens it'll be my blog's 2024 6*-of-5 read. So excellent...and Author Ferdia's explanation of why he made them Dubliners was the cherry on the whipped cream on the sundae.

Loved glorious exploits. Just finished it this afternoon. Replying to this comment to expand - it's cited as the inspiration for game of thrones, french historical fiction covering the period of Philip the fair and his feud with the templars through to the start of the hundred years war. I read the first book years ago but have recently found a complete set in hardback so intend to give it a go again soon.

Saw this on a round display table when I was in Waterstones (a magical place to be sure); the book had its own display table and everything, and I recognized it from your earlier videos. SO regret not picking it up when I had the chance - as usual the American cover is ridiculous and the UK cover is way better. Sigh. ⚱
