When I installed my first subs into my car, I didn’t have any money left after the components for sound deadening and I had horrendous rattle in my rear deck (sedan). I fixed it with golf balls. Still working like a charm to this day.

The trouble with large diameter subwoofers, 21" and up, is they need to have extremely powerful motors (high BL) to push such a large cone, otherwise the enclosure behaves in an overdamped manner, and starts rolling off at a higher frequency, as if the enclosure is under-sized, and the only way around that is to give the woofer more enclosure volume to work in, or to implement a more powerful motor. In the big frame sizes like that, I am surprised I don't see more frames assembled from machined aluminum components, enabling a large motor landing where you can use a 6" or 8"-coil inside-magnet motor with neo magnets above and below the gap to obtain high BL. Die casting is nice but a multi-piece frame assembled with threaded fasteners and epoxy at the joints would provide the needed support for a very high-force woofer platform.

this stuff doesn't really affect hearing. Believe it or not. The highs, if too loud but mostly distorted, will hurt your ears way more than these subs. Thanks though man!

@@meade916 My hearing is already jacked, so everything sort of blends together. I can't separate the vocals from the lows from the highs from the mids. It's all one big auditory mudhole for me. You remind me a lot, and even look a lot like my buddy joe. He was always diving head first into having an aftermarket car stereo system. He would try to explain about how you tune boxes and what sort of wizardry was going on with amps and capacitors and things. Thanks for the reply :D
