Glory Daze 2021 - Inspired Motorcycles
Or; Tabula Racer: Empiricism and the Art of Motorcycle Design.
Alex has a new project bike, a ‘79 CB750F Supersport, but he’s trying to decide what direction to take the build. This bike is a blank slate, waiting for an idea to take shape. Where do ideas come from? How do you get inspired when you’re starting out? Looking to other’s work and contemplating their approach is a good place to begin. And a custom motorcycle show is a great place to see that work, all gathered together.
We return to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to attend Glory Daze, an invitational motorcycle show that takes place in the Historic Carrie Blast Furnaces, an old steel mill turned museum. Dozens of custom bikes litter the show floor, dazzling us with loud paint and shiny chrome. But Alex is laser-focused, looking for ideas, and hones in on just a few bikes. He studies them, hoping to see what the builders saw.
We put a lot of work into this video, please let us know what you think! Leave a comment or a like.
