COMMON SCAMS TO AVOID IN ISTANBUL TURKEY 🇹🇷 AS A TOURIST

Some scams to avoid or watch out for when visiting Istanbul Turkey 🇹🇷 as a tourist or if you are planning to live in Turkey.
Some of these scams have been experienced first hand by myself or a friend.
P.S : Not all of my experiences are similar to every other tourist.
Not all Turkish people do these thing mentioned above

About 2 years ago I was in Istanbul and I took a yellow taxi from aksaray to bairoky and I swear I thought I was about to be raped and killed. The taxi driver decided to take some random route because there was too much traffic, so we ended up in this dead end location and it led us to a deserted mental Institute, where all I saw was a location where there was no route for cars to go through, I swear I opened the car door as it was moving telling him to STOP!!!! I don’t feel safe this man kept on driving and I had a out of body experience where I saw myself about to be rapped and killed. I got out and he got out and told me to get back in the car, I said no!!! Call my friend now I don’t feel safe looooool he called my friend after 2 mins of me arguing with him apparently he told my friend he was taken an short cut and he told him no take her the Normal way blahah. I swear this journey has Scarred meeeeeeee. I’m going to Istanbul in 2 months and I don’t want to go into taxis anymore but I can’t drive lol. God had saved me I swear

They like to do that in order to avoid traffic most of the time, but it can be really annoying for someone who is not aware of the area. Really sorry about that experience

Oh my God!!! That's awful!!! 😱😱😱😱😱😱 I'm am SO that happened to you!!! Were you able to find out who stole from you? Were he/she/they arrested?

@@ivymerritt7577 it happened at the atm. They tampered with the machine, minutes before i got there so they withdrew my money remotely whilst i was at the machine. The bank later retrieved the CCTV video when i reported to the Ghana embassy. It was reported to the police. It happened the night before i travelled out. Almost missed my flight in the process, misplaced my passport in the confusion. Its an experience i dont want to ever even remember. Turkey is the last place on earth id ever want to visit again

I am planning to hopefully come to Turkey in a week.... Thank God most of these scams happen to Nairobi city as well except for the restaurant scam. I guess it's best to avoid people chatting with you on the road.

The Ubers are Taxi's they stopped the minibuses from being ubers. So when you order for an Uber, a taxi would show up. But they are better than getting a random taxi because they would be in their best behavior in order to get a good rating

Okey, there are some serious scams here, just avoid the taxis etc. Been covered plenty of times before. Still, this video? Just a tourist talking sharing own experiences, gets rather boring. Obviously scams everywhere for you? Maybe nice to add some views of this beautiful city and a voice-over? Just an idea: Check out the previous videos and be a little street-smart, should be no problems in town!

Not watched the video yet but NEVER GET INTO A TAXI! They tell you that it's a "set price", you arrive at the destination, then say you have to pay for the return journey too and therefore, they double your fee. Also, taking toll routes - telling you, you have to pay for the toll both ways too! 🙄 This happened to me and my family, we were tight for time to catch our flight. The guy locked our stuff in the boot and threatened to call the police.

They always do that to foreigners, when they know you have no idea of what is happening, I would also suggest using an uber or biTaksi which I forgot to mention in the video.
