Thank you for the video. My mother was from Gloucester, and I spent time there when I was young in the 50s and 60s. Good memories of times long past. About 12+ names on the plaque by the fishermen's memorial are of her family.

Oddly I'm currently in Osaka recreating some of your rail trips there(took the Thunderbird upto Tsuruga today, will be taking the Hamakae back from Totteri in a couple of days)and at one point I used to live in Gloucester, actually Wingaersheek, but close enough for government work!!!

I would love to live there the North Shore of Massachusetts is one of my favorite places in America. There is do much history and the food is great. But my wife prefers a warm climate, so we're stuck in Florida.

Living in Gloucester is like living in a Steinbeck novel. It's like going back in time to the 1960's.

My husbands cousin lives in Gloucester. We have spent quite some time in the area.

I watched the awesome movie, "Captains Courageous" (1937), about 50+ times last year. I would love to visit, but I probably wouldn't live there, if for no other reason, because you have to pay so much to just go to the beach! The parking is unbelievably expensive. When you live in a seaside community, you want to be able to just stop by the beach and walk for awhile, or just stare out to sea. You don't want to have to make an appointment a couple of days in advance to do so!

As a resident, you purchase a $25 beach sticker, good for the season and no appointment necessary for residents

Thank you! That's much better. I'd still probably only visit, but I would love to visit.

I've been with you from the beginning, Jeremy, the National Parks, Norway . . . but if I signed up for Patreon on my loved channels, I, as a senior, would go broke. What can I say? I'm disappointed that you've signed on to the Patreon system to this degree.

The size of the town is fine - but it's in cold country and are there no single-story homes? Always lived in single-storied and now that I've become mobility-challenged - multi-storied homes are a no-no. Plus, no desire to live by the ocean. I guess I won't be even considering living there. The history is fine and important.

Gloucester is known for its long maritime history, The Perfect Storm in 1991, and the 2008 Gloucester High School girls' pregnancy pact in which 17 girls made a pact to get pregnant

The pregnancy pact was just a rumor, which turned out to not be true.

A shame that my city has just celebrated its 400th anniversary and this is what we are remembered for, not for our fishing heritage, beaches, fiesta, schooner festival and as a city of 30,000 plus folks lucky enough to call this island home.
